If you thought The Shred was tough......

......it is a walk in the park compared to Jillian's "Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism" DVD.

It's a 40 minute workout comprising seven circuits - each lasting 6 minutes. Plus 5 min warm up & cool down. You can do the entire thing or select your target area.

It left me a sweaty mess but in a good way GrinWink

I love that one!

Ujjayi · 03/09/2013 22:18

Grumpywino - please tell me it gets easier?! I can't Shred as it hurts my knees. I've been usng Tracey Anderson Mat workout which is very effective but I am bored of it.

I have only one thing to say (or pant)

standing mountain climbers

WTAF??? How can anyone do those for more than 4 seconds?

KosherBacon · 04/09/2013 08:51

The Shred killed my knees and totally put me off anything by her.

DH saw me post an abbreviation of that on MN once and christened it Be Fat Be Miserable (BFBM), which is has forever been known as in our house. I quite like it actually, bit of a change from Shred sometimes.

Ujjayi · 04/09/2013 10:29

Worldgonecrazy - I found the standing mountain climbers easier than the ones in plank position.

Burpees are a whole new level of WTAF for me though! No way did I complete the reps at Jillian's pace Grin

I love this too. I thought I was pretty fit until I did this, it's a killer but fantastic workout. The following day I always do a Pilates dvd to stretch the muscles.

Barbie1 · 04/09/2013 11:23

If you think that it tough check out insanity. Now that really is a killer Wink

AmberNectarine · 04/09/2013 12:10

I am currently wincing with every step after returning to Ripped in 30 after a 2 month hiatus. Those spiderman press ups are the worst

OneLittleLady · 04/09/2013 12:12

I don't think I could manage 40 minutes I am that out of shape. I thought I was going to die after the level one shred workout! Also, I have medical conditions that prevent me from doing anything to hard so I'll just sit quietly in the corner and cackle while the rest of you do the hard work Grin

sophiedaal · 04/09/2013 12:14

If there's a Jillian workout that doesn't destroy knees, point me at it! I loved the Shred eventually but my right knee has taken nearly a year to recover from it. Mind you, I'm not sure the floor in my spare room will ever recover.

Ujjayi · 04/09/2013 12:25

That's interesting Zara because I had exactly the same thought so today I used Exhale Core Fusion Body Sculpt. It's a pilates/yoga hybrid - very intense particularly the abs Shock

DS is doing Insanity, he's a fit lad but finding it hellish. Getting good results though.

MrsFlorrick · 04/09/2013 12:42

Have you tried 6 week 6 pack by Jillian. That's a killer. Sounds very similar. 40mins and similar circuits. Spider-Man press up plank and burpees. Very good results. Very sweaty afterwards tho.

6w6p doesn't muller your knees like shred can. Particularly level 2 of shred is hard on knees.

Grumpywino · 04/09/2013 12:48

I used the Jillian range to prepare for Insanity. All are good workouts! Hardcore but so worth it.

ZaraW · 04/09/2013 12:49

Ujjayi that sounds a bit intense for me, I do the 10 minute solution dvd with resistance band....... quite nice and relaxing and get results if you do the 5 segments together.

AmberNectarine · 04/09/2013 19:27

Yes 6w6p quite low impact. L1 not so bad, L2 hideous.
