Long vest tops for layering - where to get?

BananaramaLlama · 03/09/2013 19:09

Can anyone point me at some longer vest tops? I have defaulted to M&S but they are very short and ride up, is there anywhere which does good longer ones? I have seen UNIQLO mentioned as good layers but there's no store near here - worth a try? Any other suggestions?

Thank you!

I swear by dunnes longline vests. Heavy cotton and they wash really well and good length, and only £5. I'm in Ireland but think they deliver to uk now.

Yes, yes, Nyancat. I bought four from a Dunnes store in the UK a couple of months ago and they are fantastic: great quality and super long.

I think people often recommend H&M too.

GobblersKnob · 03/09/2013 19:34

I love these I have about 10, really long, very stretchy and comfortable, wash really well.

Ponks · 03/09/2013 20:58

Primark! £2 for lycra vest / camisole tops with adjusters on the straps, which is useful. A good length too.

KosherBacon · 03/09/2013 21:06

How true to size are the Dunnes vests? Do they wash well?

Wearytiger · 03/09/2013 21:37

I have heard that mamas and papas do a roaring trade in vests even for non-pregnant ladies... The mat vests there are lovely and long and I still wear mine post pregnancy although I do have a bit of a tum

DesperateHousewife21 · 03/09/2013 21:47

mamas and papas feel weird I found, like swimming costume material!

I like H&M ones, im 5"8 so need long ones.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/09/2013 21:49

H&M
£3.99
Very long

I want a bright pink one though and they have only ever got them in tiny or enormous sizes.

LondonNinja · 03/09/2013 21:51

H&M - lovely and long. And cheap.

RedPencils · 03/09/2013 21:53

Another vote for H&M. I'm 5'11 and they're long enough for me.

plipplops · 03/09/2013 21:54

Gap for me.

Rattitude · 03/09/2013 22:11

KosherBacon, my Dunnes vest are size 10 and I normally wear size 10-12.

Yes, they do wash well too!

domesticslattern · 03/09/2013 22:18

I was on just such a hunt today and found some good ones in Gap. Ribbed and also not ribbed. I bought four. They are way too thin and unflattering for wearing on their own but ideal for layering and long enough to cover that awful back and arse gap in jeans. Hurray! They are a bit more expensive at £7.95 and £8.95 each.

AWimbaWay · 03/09/2013 22:23

hush

jamwi · 03/09/2013 22:23

I have bought vests from Jack Wills for layering. They are about £18 full price (I always buy in sale). Much more expensive but they wash really well, I've had a couple of mine for 6 years, that still look good so think its worth the extra spend.

pootlebug · 03/09/2013 22:27

Primark £2. They wash okay for the price. Let's face it they are for layering UNDERNEATH everything so you won't see it really. I bought some before DD2 arrived 18 months ago and they still do the job.

My favourite vest tops though are M&S autograph ones from 7 years ago...now close to death after a gazillion wears each.

StarsAboveYou · 03/09/2013 22:29

Ditto the H&M ones. I like them so much I still layer with them even though I eventually gave up feeding DS 4months ago Blush

Nyancat · 03/09/2013 22:42

Kosher, I agree with rattitude, I'm 5'5 and size 12 and if I straighten the to their length iyswim they come down to cover my arse and top of thighs.

mimiasovitch · 04/09/2013 14:00

New look have some for £3.99, which are really long.

alli1968 · 04/09/2013 14:06

ditto H & M and Primark.

Even the maternity ones in H & M for extra length

JemimaMuddledUp · 04/09/2013 14:16

Mine came from New Look

Weelady77 · 04/09/2013 14:48

New look river island or primark Smile

Babouche · 04/09/2013 17:06

awimbaway I like the look of the hush ones(& a lot of other stuff on the site).Never bought from there before,do they have special offers or is it just a case of pay full price?

KosherBacon · 04/09/2013 17:34

New Look ones wash into holes and are so shapeless the necklines look awful if they pop out a bit.
