Looking for really good but inexpensive eye shadow palette.

I'm searching for a cheap but good eyeshadow palette for mature eyes.

Don't normally wear colour on my eyes but want to experiment for the first time as I feel my menopausal face is becoming increasingly dull and needs a touch of something.

What are the do's and don't's concerning eyeshadows for the more mature complexion?

MUA - make up academy range do good palettes for 4 quid, they have one called undressed which is a great dupe of the urban decay naked pallets.

From superdrug.
I'm not sure about the mature skin question - primer maybe?

aliciaflorrick · 02/09/2013 18:01

I second MUA - you can buy them online too, and at the moment they have a palette you can put together yourself for £15, so eye shadow, pick your own colours, blusher etc. Mine arrived today, I'm very pleased with it.

I can't really give you too much advice on the mature skin thing, but I've noticed eye shadows with a bit of a sparkle in them really don't work for me any more.

I third MUA at Superdrug. Amazing price for amazing quality.

Yep MUA undressed is good. I still prefer my Urban Decay Naked but it was 36 quid Blush.

I've got the urban decay naked2 palette and it really is gorgeous. I love every single colour and they're lovely quality. There are 12 colours in it though Smile and the brush is top notch! Although think I paid about £24 so not that cheap but good value IMO

Bourjois do some nice colours too they're quite reasonably priced.

Fraulein pallets are cheap, but fantastic quality and really pigmented (longer lasting). I bought one with a huge range of colours in both matte and shimmery colours.

Sleek palettes are supposed to be very good - also available from superdrug. The pixiwoo tutorials often suggest them.

sorry forgot to do a link to sleek website

Sali Hughes has also written about their blushers.

I have a couple of the sleek palettes and they're fun and fab- just what I wanted for playing with colour without spending a fortune - and they were on 3 for 2 offer in Superdrug last time I was in.

Ooh, thanks for all the suggestions. I shall browse them all! Very helpful.
