Scottish Bra Experts - best Glasgow shops for advice and measurement

I am going shopping with my sister who has 'bra issues', i.e. can never find anything that is both flattering and comfortable, we have done the MN measuring and on Tuesday we hit Glasgow to start trying different styles. I know about Bravissimo, where else should we try? She's around a 30C or D but has a lack of 'fullness' as a result of breast feeding.

She's a bit stressed about the whole thing, so any ideas so that I can plan an easy, smooth day for her will be very helpful

Thanks LifeofPo, we'll definitely start with Bravissimo, my only worry is that she'll be too small for them - don't they start at a D cup or have I got that wrong?

Bravissimo good I agree. Be wary of John Lewis. Sometimes good but they fitted me all wrong on one occasion.

SorrelForbes · 01/09/2013 17:33

Bravissimo. I would out money on her needing at least a D cup.

GleamingHeels · 01/09/2013 17:59

OK, OK Bravissimo! Grin

Having been to Bravissimo for advice and measuring and best bra shape identification - are there any sales or cheaper places where it's worth us having a look whilst we're in Glasgow.... or should we just go and have coffee afterwards?

When you are at Bravissimo make sure she tries on a really broad range of brands so she gets a feel for what size and cuts fit her in Freya, Panache, Fantasie, Bravissimo, Cleo etc etc

Buy a couple in Bravissimo (cos she will want to!) and then online shopping for more. Try Amazon (honestly!), Brastop, mycurvesandme. Debenhams (online and in store) sometimes good for bargains.

IME even if she turns out to actually be a C cup, the bravissimo ladies will be able to work that out from their other bras and she will probably still get a far better understanding of what fits that way. But in reality there aren't many that many people who are less than a D, and given that I came out of the shop yesterday with 30GG, 30H and 28J there is always a fair bit of variance between sizes so there will be something that works I suspect.

Thank you StatisticallyC - I think we will spend ages and ages in Bravissimo, then do as you suggest.

What did you buy yesterday Stats? (Voyeuristic bra shopping!)

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/09/2013 21:11

I bought:

Satine in a 28J in the new colour (burgundy) and matching pants
Cleo Marcie in purple in 30H and pants which are absurdly small
Cleo Melissa in 30H
Freya Deco Hattie (pinky/purple) in 30GG and matching pants
The Pepperberry peplum top - surprisingly flattering and I would not have expected it to be on me (massive hips)
New purple pjs - went for a 32GG/H top but they're very nice

Tried Juna and Maddie, both awful sadly. Also tried the new Meg and almost bought it, much better made than the older bird one we both have

SorrelForbes · 01/09/2013 21:48

Hmmm. Might try the Marcie and the new Meg. Quite interested in trying the Satine too as I only have one plunge (CK Elegance). Do you think I might need to size up to a 30H if I'm a 30GG in the Cleos.?

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/09/2013 22:00

I would think so. I actually have a 30HH Satine as well but it wasn't sitting quite right on me, slightly big in the back and the cups were slightly off shape wise but I definitely could not wear a 30H in it like I do the Cleos. I'd say you'll definitely need a cup size bigger in Satine.

Marcie is really nice, probably my favourite. I just found the red version on Crazy Clearance for £12.50 too so I'm having that :)

The new Meg is much much better - my existing one gives me a good shape under clothes, but has some puckering on the vertical seam and some gaping in the top section where they just didn't get the cut right. The new one (which I've just realised isn't on the brav website!) is actually called Lily - www.panache-lingerie.com/us/cleo-by-panache/collection/21542020/Balconnet-Bra/ and has none of those problems but all the good bits.

SorrelForbes · 01/09/2013 22:11

I love that lily bra, gorgeous pattern. Ok, will be ordering that and the Marcie plus a Satine! My poor credit card.
