Will ankle boots make my legs look short?

I've lost a little bit of weight and now look pretty good in skinny jeans if I say so myself Smile. I'm wondering what on earth to wear them with in autumn winter though as sandals or ballet flats won't be any good and I want something other than knee length boots.

I like the look of these or something similar but I'm worried they'll make my legs look short if they cut me off just above the ankle. Or will that make my legs look longer?

Sorry, I'm a bit clueless really about what works! Until now it's been straight jeans with converse or skinnies in tall boots but I need a new wardrobe and fancy a change.

Those look like mid calf boots rather than ankle boots. I have some Ugg Kensingtons which are a little similar and the chunkiness of them does make my legs look very slim, to perhaps an unflattering degree as my kids say I look like a golf club. For actual ankle boots you could consider some with a v front to elongate your legs.

Maybe mid calf is what I want then really. I know the v front would be lengthening but I don't really like the look of them. Heels would be good too but i find them uncomfortable and I want something I can walk miles and chase after toddlers in.

I guess I just need to do some trying on really, just don't get much time to shop these days.

They are nice boots and given that Schuh have free delivery/returns you've got nothing to lose by ordering them for a try.

Mid calf is much more flattering IMO.

I've also fallen in love with these. They should be sturdy and last even on me (I walk a lot and am always crawling around on the floor with a toddler). I think a trip to Schuh is in order.

The Dr Marten boots are lovely.

Depends on your proportion I think. Ankle boots make my legs look short and stumpy and I look better in calf or knee length.

I'm short but do wear ankle boots but prefer them in similar colour to the jeans I'm wearing. Tis more flattering I think.

Also have some slim fitting ankle boots that I pull my skinnies down on top of rather than tucking them in - I like this look too. And again its flattering.
