Ideally I would like to wear smart trousers and a top that is like a formal version of the top on the left in this image. I hate dresses! Though the sleeves on this top aren't perfect, I like proper three quarter length.

Every top and trousers combo I try on looks too casual, I think I home in on what I usually choose, because I live in tops and jeans!

If any of you have any ideas that would be great, you might set me in the right direction! Smile

Head to dorothy perkins for a browse.

Hi John Rocha in Debenhams or Principles at Debenhams . I think Daily Mail doing 20%off promo for Debenhams also. Try this site -www.gerardfashions.com although its being updated at the moment but try it in a day or two. This is the Internet site of a shop we have in Ireland/NI called Vogue which is great for separates and go to a size 22
Good luck :)

Or Evans even!

Allthingspretty · 31/08/2013 16:23

Monsoon are good too!

Is it for the synagogue bit or just for a party afterwards?

Is it on a Saturday? And is it reform (men and women sit together) or orthodox (sit separately). If its a Saturday in an orthodox synagogue you need to wear a skirt.

PomBearArmy · 31/08/2013 19:03

I had to find out, but I've been told it's not orthodox. We are invited to the ceremony and a meal after. So separates should be okay?

I'll try the shops again. I might be able to get to Debenhams next week. I remember a couple of years ago they made a big thing about designing a line that would go down in size with women who were losing weight, but I suppose it wasn't that popular! We don't have a local Evans anymore, only a concession in BHS. And I used to like Monsoon but they seem to have got a bit pricier. I might have a look at their Bicester Village store.

Apparently Monsoon isn't at Bicester Village anymore Sad

If men and women sit together then trousers should be fine.
