Pregnant and need a suit urgently!!

I am 17 weeks pregnant and my usual work skirts/trousers don't fasten up but obviously bump is not massive yet. I have to go to Court in a couple of weeks and I literally have no idea what to wear - does anyone know where I can get a suit with a stretchy waist or even a smart black dress that is stretchy (I could put one of my existing jackets over it)? I'm really starting to panic over this now so any ideas will be really appreciated.

Oh and I'm 5'9" and a size 14 if that helps.

anything here? Boden also do a stretchy wrap dress in black if that is what you really want!

I went to court quite a bit when pregnant. Probably cheapest appropriate clothing is black or navy dress and jacket - no point spending too much on a single trip to court. A couple of top shop dresses which would do the trick below.

And a cheap new look jacket which would also be fine for £25. Chain could look odd but at that price u could pull it off and just wear it undone.

I got a cheap black suit in Next when pregnant. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm only 5'4", you'd be welcome to it.

Next do amazing stretchy trousers, wide leg I wore to work git all three dc think I still have black and purple pairs in 14L?? Prob gave smart dresses somewhere too? We're in south west of you are near you could borrow??

I would also suggest a black/navy jersey wrap dress with a blazer/jacket. Do you wear a gown in court? Mine hides a multitude!

SunnyUpNorth · 30/08/2013 22:43

I had this dress when I was pregnant and I loved it sooooooo much. I really missed it post pregnancy and was excited to get pregnant for a second time so I could wear it again! I just wish I had it in a non maternity form.

I wore it to work, you could easily pair it with a blazer or smart cardigan. I also dressed it up with pearls or a cools necklace for evening and dinner out. It was cute on a weekend day with pumps or flip flops and a more casual cardi. Could also do it with black tights and pumps or boots in the winter. Endless combos. Every pregnant woman should have it. I actually hated all their other clothes but loved that dress. I must get pregnant again....!

Thank you so much for your replies! I wish I did wear a gown Longleggedlovely - would be so much easier to dress appropriately. I only have to attend Court occasionally for work but it is sod's law that I am called now that I can't fit into any of my suits! I will get some wear out of this outfit though because I'm also being promoted so will need to look smart.

I really like that dress SunnyUpNorth - would it be ok for a not so big bump or would the front be too low? I might order one to try it.

Thanks for the offer CarrieLou. I wish I could accept but I need xl length from Next so they wouldn't be long enough. It is really a curse being tall AND pregnant!

Herecomesthesun - those are nice but I can't justify spending that much for a one off. I will have a look at Boden though just in case there is something reasonable.

Thanks for the ideas Theironfist. I will have a good look at Topshop - the only problem I find is getting something that's long enough. I really am too old these days to expose my flabby knees to the world Grin.

Sorry for late reply. I think I probably started wearing that dress at around 20 weeks as that always seemed to be the point that my tummy went from looking a bit like I was just being greedy to actually looking pregnant!

It should definitely be ok with a jacket. It has ruching at the sides to give it a bit of shape.
