do you buy cheaper clothes but lots of them or spend a lot on a few items?

I buy loads of clothes from places like Primark, peacocks etc as fashion changes so quickly.

I wouldn't dream of spending more than £20 on a top but do have about 30 vest tops for summer, usually costing about £5 each.

I don't think I look cheap and like the fact that I can vary my clothes each year. Especially sandals/flip flops. Dirt cheap and you can then get a whole new lot next year :)

I do the same as you BH. Occasionally I spend a little bit more if it's something I love, but not designer prices. I do like a bargain!

Bit of both for me. Some key pieces that were a lot then bits and pieces of stuff that I like but know I won't wear for more than a couple of months.

I have a beautiful jacket that cost £420 four years ago that I wear at least once or twice a week, in winter with a heavier top and in summer with a vest. I still get complimented on it from time to time by people that must have seen it hundreds of times!

For the kids it is always spend more on fewer clothes. I am a brilliant washer and virtually never get a kids stain on something that I can't get out so prefer them to have beautiful clothes that are really nicely cut.

BUT on dp I'll spend bugger all as he does more damage to clothes than three kids put together. So I get him cheap and replace it often.

I always buy about 4/5 new flipflops each spring. But I wear them in the autumn and winter too as I don't feel the cold at all.

I don't buy from cheap shops, but do get lots in the sales.

im the same, i try buy from sales. cheaper they are, they dont last one summer |and we dont have primark and shops like that. tend to buy lots from next or debenhams. but never spend fortune on clothes, only got weaknes s on bags and shoes, and d`s clothes.

As we only have 1 wage coming in I do have to be careful.

You can get some really nice bits in the sales slashed right down. The French Connection sales are fantastic! I got a skirt reduced from £60-£10 last summer!

thinhk you can do that really well fro summer clothes or when youa re young so that you can work out what does suit you ( cue lookign back at photos of when you thought you were the DB)

in winter i find its a false economy

I am a cheap and cheerful type. Next or River Island is a splurge for me. Agree that it is easier in summer. However still do it to a degree in winter.

i think the jeans in primark are great. Matalan do some nice things too.
My Matalan jeans are just as nice as Top shop and only cost £15, primark ones a tenner.

quantity rather than quality for me!

Jeans are nearly always from Next, sometimes New Look, but only because I know I can pretty much guarantee they will fit and trying things on in shops with 5 unruly kiddies is NOT my idea of a relaxing shopping trip. In fact, Next directory get lots of custom from me , especially now as I am not able to drive still!

Coats and jackets are xmasor b/day pressies from the sales as I really resent spending anything more than £50 on anything!

Tops etc are nearly always primark/mk1/peacocks/H&M. You can't beat primark for their summer tops....halter necks are £2.50 each and I can have one in every colour and then buy new again next year:):):)

I do like Gap, but will never buy full price, always sale items for me.

If I have money, I like to come home with lots and lots...love having more for my money and definately love a bargain.

For the kiddies...tis sale items or primark. they go thro it all so quickly, and are so hard on their clothes too (and the girls especially don't like to have everyhting hand-me-down), that cheaper is essential.

the one thing that is a definate no no too for hand-me-downs is their underwear, so that is usually sale too.

Agree with Cod it seems to pay to spend more on winter clothes - also get more wear out of them as the weather is bad for longer than it's good!

Trousers, shoes, jackets, jumpers, coats etc tend to last so am willing to spend more, but I get bored with tops quickly [shame] so like buying more cheap ones.

Am lucky to have a Gap oulet and a Next to Nothing as well as Primark and Peacocks - if I only had Monsoon etc I'd be bankrupt by now!

I like bargains too. For LO she has clothes from Primark through to M&S. Tend to spend more on school clothes as they do tend to last longer. She's got several trousers from Adams as we quite liked them. For LO I tend to go for cheaper items (other than shoes) as she grows out of things so quickly & also I don't mind if they get filthy!

For myself I'll buy what I like which may be designer or may be from Primark! For summer tops tend to go to Primark - who can tell where a standard vest top comes from?! I do like to get bargains though so like sales & Designer Outlets.

My main complaint is sizes! Is there any point having them as they don't even seem to be the same in the same shop :S
