Trousers for ridiculously skinny 13 yr old boy

Ds2 has grown yet again ... He's very tall and exceptionally skinny (looks like one of those stretchy men toys once they've been stretched)

All his trousers are now too short, sob, so will need to go shopping .. 26" waist is big on him and Johnnie B long length are now ankle grazers .. He's too skinny for adult trousers and too tall for children's sizes - what's he going to wear for the next few years until he fills out a bit??

Help!!

basildon I have one of them too.
My ultra skinny boy (13.6) fortunately is a non-trendy type.

Mine is over 5'5" (that's how tall I am and he's passed me now) with a 24" waist.
chool trousers are M&S with an adjustable waist in longer length.

Casual- I found Primark chino type (he doesn't like jeans) in the skinny fit 26" (smallest size) and 32" leg.
He needs a belt with some.
He looks like Dr Sheldon Cooper (especially as he has short dark hair) and they are £10 a pair.
Trouble is if he grows again Hmm

My 14 year old is A Big Bang Theory Nut we call him Sheldon too lol
I bought him ASDA age 14/15 school trousers perfect length and adjustable waist he is 5ft 6 / 7 ( at a guess haven't measured him but taller than his peers ) with 28/30 Waist . We have problems with boxer shorts as well (boys - too small and small man too baggy) we also have problem with track bottoms mainly Canterbury too short or too long and very baggy in leg . We have an ongoing issue with hair he insists on growing it a la Harry Styles but I would like a Gareth Bale :) I find Peacocks small man good fit in a chino

Try Topman skinny chinos. They might start at 26'' though but my skinny son manages them ok with a belt. Next kids go up to age 15 if you look on-line.

RandomMess · 29/08/2013 17:42

Hmm GAP children to a slim fit in many styles of their jeans they are cut slimmer on the waist and hips. Not sure what age they go up to though?

basildonbond · 29/08/2013 21:59

Thanks everyone - the problem is that ds is 5'9 - and most of that is leg - with a 24" waist so gap, next children's sizes don't work and so far top shop way too baggy - will try peacock/primark thoihh

5'9" Shock
My DS isn't tall compared to most of his classmates - he looks alot taller because he's so thin.

I wonder what we are feeding these teenage lads to make them so tall but still stay so slim.

(DS on holiday in swimming shorts - he was like a little Praying Mantis, all folded up long limbs because he's going through the 'sensitive' stage)

SacreBlue · 30/08/2013 07:59

I buy DS trousers from M&S. The teen ones have the internal button to tighten them as well as some letting down in the cuff.

ouryve · 30/08/2013 08:03

how tall is too tall? Next go up to 16 and do a lot of styles in slim fit. It bugs me that so many shops only go up to a 12 - DS1's in 11 aready at 9!

ouryve · 30/08/2013 08:09

Sorry - should have read on!

M&S tend to short and wide, I've noticed, but they appear to have introduced some longer length in a very few styles. The 24" waist is tough, though, since that's what DS1 has at 9!

LadyMilfordHaven · 30/08/2013 08:13

Never marks. Although sometimes their jeans are ok. Next jean fit school trousers are good

LadyMilfordHaven · 30/08/2013 08:14

5 foot 9 is not too short for adult

lollylaughs · 30/08/2013 08:25

My lanky lad wears Levi's and Gap Slimfit Jeans. These are the only two that fit him the waist and length. According to him, adjustable waistbands are for little kids .... Hmm

basildonbond · 30/08/2013 09:26

Obviously he's not too short for adult sizes but he's too skinny as most start at 30" waist very few even do 28" and that's still way too big

I think you'll need an adult skinny fit. Having just kitted out 14 yo DS1, even the men's "super slim" fit are loose around his legs (I used Esprit but they start at a 28" waist). They look like a perfect regular fit on him - which is good really although he wanted skinny!

SoupDragon · 30/08/2013 09:39

He's about 5'8" and 30 waist 32 leg so at least adult sizes are easy to find, albeit expensive.

coffeeinbed · 30/08/2013 09:41

DS used to buy topshop and H&M girl's ones.
