Please find me a stylish suit

I am going to a high profile work event the weekend after next and I need to look very sharp and well presented. Can you please lovely ladies find me a suit that is actually stylish and flattering? I was thinking something from Zara maybe, as they do quite nice work clothes. I am a size 12, if that helps.

Thanks!!

I'd look At Reiss and Hobbs.

A second to Hobbs. I have a lovely dress & jacket combination from there, and would buy more in a heartbeat.

Personally, I think a dress & matching jacket looks smarter than trousers/skirt + jacket. And saves you having to worry about a suitable top and things coming untucked too.

Third vote for Hobbs. What is your budget?

mosaica · 30/08/2013 22:57

I think Hobbs is a bit too expensive for me - I'd be looking at paying £200+? I've been to my local John Lewis as there is a Hobbs shop, but I can't say I was blown away by their suits. Also, they only seem to do black? I forgot to say I don't want a black suit as it really doesn't suit me.

Can you suggest anything nice for £150 max (less ideally)? Thanks.

Oh I came on to say Hobbs. I have several suits from there in varying shades of navy. Have you tried their outlet? They have it online.

Tailored dress over a suit anyday. My power dress works wonders at interviews!

Zara and Mango do nice smart blazers that are good value - plus a tailored dress from there or Gap or Banana Republic would work.

mosaica · 31/08/2013 08:15

I like the power dress idea! Any recommendations?

I think m&s is worth taking a look. I bought a fab dress a couple of years ago with a really nice structured jacket to wear to interview and it got me the job!

banana Republic great for work basics and not too pricey - also different colours.

Screwfox · 06/09/2013 17:11

Banana republic

I must admit I find the pencil dress apprentice workwear thing dull.

Like "I'm dressing up as a business woman " kind of thing
