Why, for the love of God, can I not find...

...any 3/4 length sleeved tops, in a few colours, plain, in jersey or similar, with anything but a high round neckline? All I can find are high round necks and short or long sleeves, nothing inbetween. I am short so long sleeves are always too long. AND everything has bloody stripes!

I have several skirts in various colours that pretty much are my 'uniform' for school, with either wedge sandals or boots for the autumn, I need plain tops to go with them but I am a size 14 top with a 42 inch chest, I cannot wear a high neckline, I look like one huge boob...Can't wear shirts, they gape, need jersey as I am an art teacher and get filthy dip my boobs in paint when leaning over and they wash well. I wear dresses too but have all these nice patterned skirts which I have never worn as have no tops to go with them.

I go back to work next week like to get sorted before the term starts.

I can't spend too much as we are skint but could manage to find extra cash if I thought they would last/not go bobbly. Probably need black, brown, navy blue, maybe a couple of brighter colours too. Not too thick or too thin.

A v neck, wide kind of slash neckline or square are fine - I have looked bleedin' everywhere and nothing!

Has anyone seen any?! Or am I asking for the moon on a stick?

Help!

Have you also considered plain coloured jumpers, that's what I tend to wear to school with a patterned skirt. BHS have some nice v neck ones for £12, I also got a couple of cheapies in black and grey from Asda for £10, but they will definitely need a vest under as otherwise the kids will see my pretty bra!

Thanks all, lots of options, have done a couple of online orders and will try marks, we have an alright one here I can take a look in - Gap and Bonprix seemed the best for colours and price, I do like the Kettlewell but I just don't have the cash to spend there, DH lost his job a few months ago so everything is on a shoestring, really can't spend the 50 quid I just have but needs must!
trinity I do wear V neck jumpers later in the year, will have a look in BHS - it is this time of year up to xmas I find the worst, its not really cold and I get so hot in the classroom when it is full of kids but when there is no-one there first thing and when everyone goes home it can be chilly - just don't know what to wear! cardigans is the next thing to find, they can wait as long as the weather stays nice...

I am fully aware I am distracting myself from the real issue of having to teach next week when I don't feel ready by stressing about clothes!

Did you try M&S? I used to get their V neck 3/4 length sleeve ones every year as my emergency go to tops.

FunnyRunner · 28/08/2013 23:45

And they were pure cotton so not hot.

I got a dark grey lovely soft jersey 3/4 slightly batwing sleeve top, in sainsburys-amazingly in the exercise section-must have got lost. im short, booby and curvy (ahem)and it looks ok. its long-so would go over leggings/trousers, but have tried it tucked in skirt-looks ok-particularly with a long cardy. and there is 25% off clothes atm.

I have wide slash necked ones from H&M, some plain, no stripes. Nice soft cotton too.

I bought then yesterday for £8 each I think.
