Bought jeans for first time in 15 years. They are boot cut. AIBU?

I have lost weight and went jeans shopping yesterday. Bought a pair of Citizens of Humanity Amber jeans - like this.
I was going to wear them with nude wedges or silver flip flops and a tan/silver tote.
But now I'm worrying that boot cuts are frump tastic and I should have got jeans that are skinny all the way down, even though I hate them and they do not suit me.
Please tell me about boot cuts and whether I have just bought something really mumsy.
And how is best to wear them in very warm weather? (Live in tropics)

I am 42, 5'6-7 and they were a 29 inch waist - I'm a 10/12 hour glass shape, still trying to shift a bit of weight on my tummy.

Thanks.

I can't wear skinnies, don't like them on other people much either and they're such a faff to get on and off. I like my jeans wide legged (I don't want my thighs hugged thank you) and long but they are so difficult to find as I'm not "on trend".

They are a gorgeous shape & far more flattering to the model than any of the more skinny ones at the bottom of that page.
I'm another who can't really do skinnies, hourglass size12. A slight flare balances me out but in skinnies I look like an impersonation of Max Wall Confused

I have to say I think bootcuts look frumpy. But maybe that's because I only see frumps wearing them.

And my mil and mum wear them.

Lovely jeans. I am pear shaped so would not even consider skinnies. Some people might consider bootcuts not to be on trend but those people clearly have no concept of dressing for your shape.

Victoria Beckham is wearing bootcut jeans these days (or more like massive flares)
