M&S bras - are they still complete rubbish if you have a huge chest

36G - want to like their bras but am always disappointed. Has anyone noticed any improvement lately. Any suggestions welcomed - have looked at Figleaves and Bravissimo. Thanks

I'm also a 36G and find M&S 36G bras to be too small. I've been buying most of my bras from Asda recently Blush as they're so much cheaper Bravissimo etc, however they aren't very consistent when it comes to sizing and never seem to have my size in the styles I really like.

SorrelForbes · 24/08/2013 15:20

M&S don't do a FF so their G is really a FF.

Their sizing isn't great tbh and the wires really aren't sting enough for larger breasts.

False economy IMHO.

AnneUulmelmahay · 24/08/2013 15:32

You really need a panache tango

StatisticallyChallenged · 24/08/2013 15:47

M&S large bras generally aren't good. They don't scale them well at all.

What sort of shape are your breasts? So, look at them objectively if possible:

Where is the fullness - are they full on top, all over, or at the bottom
How close together are they in the centre - do you have a big gap, tiny one etc
How wide are the roots of your boobs - are they narrow so only attached to your chest at the front, or wide so they are attached round under your armpits?
Are they relatively high on your chest, or relatively low?

If you can answer that we can probably suggest a few specifics - different bras and brands suit different boobs!

Also - just to check - you haven't been fitted by M&S have you?

Try Debenhams or Brastop www.brastop.com for good deals. I like quite a full cup and my current favourite brands are Fantasie, Elomi and Curvy Kate.
HTH Smile

I'm a 40H and I live in M&S total support (non wired). I haven't owned anything else for years.

RimmersLustMonster · 24/08/2013 21:07

Another 36G here! Big fan of the Freya Deco bra but discovered Debenhams own brand (I think it's called "Gorgeous") and was seriously impressed with the quality, comfort and price.

Lepreporn · 24/08/2013 21:10

I'm a 36 E
And I've tried the lot over the years. Just found the best bra ever. It's a Wacoal bra. Retro chic is the style. It's the best bra I've ever had. It has literally changed my life. I've had so many compliments lately. Lots of people say I look like I've lost weight. My mother says I look like someone with a normal chest. She needs a thread just to herself.
I'm in Ireland and it was 75 euros. But worth every cent.

MarianForrester · 24/08/2013 23:03

Yes, I too love my Wacoal bras Smile

They sell them at Figleaves, which you can use tesco vouchers for; I got mine about half price, fab

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 24/08/2013 23:09

Another here that only m&s ones seem to fit. I didn't get measured did it myself following the rules here and a 36 g/h depending on the style.

Ive tried so many other brands and sizes and none of them fit as well as the m&s ones.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 25/08/2013 00:02

Looked at Wacoal just now but anything in my size is underwired and I hate wires.

HahaHarrie · 25/08/2013 00:07

I wouldn't buy bras from M&S for anything over a B cup. Actually, probably not even then. Awful.

MrsGSR · 25/08/2013 00:13

My MIL is a 32H and swears by m&s bras. I'm usually a 30E (currently pregnant and huge) and have a few from m&s that I love, but I find it a bit hit and miss.

SorrelForbes · 25/08/2013 09:45

Be aware that M&S don't do double sizes so if you're a G there you're probably not a G in other brands.

TheChocolateTeapot · 25/08/2013 12:14

Thanks for all the advice. I was measured in R&P a few years ago so I am fairly comfortable with my size (although can be a 34/36 depending on the brand! I've never really looked at my boobs objectively statistically so I will go and have a good look at them :).
Am pleased by the thumbs up for Debenhams as I have just bought a couple from them using the bank holiday discount!

Ive tried ff f and g in other brands but they never seem to fit well. I have particular problems with freya bras.

SorrelForbes · 25/08/2013 14:22

Me too. Freya bras give me a very attractive east and west look!

Jabberwox · 05/09/2013 20:47

I haven't had a bra fitting from M&S for a while (I've learned to avoid them like the plague) but Bravissimo measured me as 30E, and I recently purchased some 30E bras from M&S, and they fit dreadfully, dig into my ribs and feel generally uncomfortable.

So either M&S bras are made peculiarly, or Bravissimo is wrong Confused

I find M&S are useless for small back sizes and big chests though and their bras have never been comfortable at all.

SorrelForbes · 05/09/2013 21:02

M&S sizing is all to pot at the moment IMHO. Some of their 28 bands only measure 25 when fully stretched! I don't think their bras are scaled up correctly for large sizes. Not that a 30E is particularly large at all but I just don't rate their quality control!
