Leather leggings-yes or no?

I'm a skinny jeans wearer and am attracted to the leather leggings that seem to be in all the shops (well, would actually be faux leather if I bought any)
.How would you style them?Or are they just a fashion no-no?I'm a tallish size 10 but 40 with 3 under 4 ..

Depends. With good legs and the right foot wear I think they're great. And they wipe clean. Beware though, I had a plastic pair once when I was a goth and they were very sweaty.

Tigermax · 24/08/2013 13:05

I think you have to be careful... I'm 40 too and they can look a bit trashy, especially the faux ones. I'm on the fence on this one but have been lusting for ages so interested in opinions aswell!

MotherOfDragon · 24/08/2013 13:29

I'm going to buy some, just don't know how to wear them!

MrsCampbellBlack · 24/08/2013 13:48

I have some and like them with knitwear. So dressed down rather than up.

Steinerino · 24/08/2013 14:33

I've been looking at these to wear with knitwear and kimono tops. I had been hankering after Disco Pants but OH says I'm too old (almost 40!)

Can anyone recommend some good leather look leggings please?

Elsiequadrille · 24/08/2013 14:37

I'd say no. Though I haven't spotted any in the shops and didn't know they were fashionable.

foxysocks · 24/08/2013 14:47

I love them but am not sure I can wear them. might try them on and see. would def wear with flat(ish) boots and knitwear rather than heels and croptop!

GeorginaWorsley · 24/08/2013 15:19

I have some coated black jeggings from.Dorothy Perkins last year that I love.
would love a rich chocolates coloured pair too if they do them

MrsCampbellBlack · 24/08/2013 15:38

Agree nice with kimono type jackets like this

Babouche · 24/08/2013 15:40

steinerino the ones I have tried on are in River Island and Dorothy Perkins, both had leather front panels and the back was thick legging material.Zara website has 3 leather-look styles too,I quite like the biker-type on there which they show with a simple grey sweatshirt.

Mine came from TopShop and I am planning on wearing them with a pretty blouse and heels, for evenings. So, just like jeans. And knitwear and ankle boots for day.

scarlet76 · 24/08/2013 15:59

Yes!!
Am 37 and have a pair from Topshop
They are good with slouchy knits and heeled ankle boots by day and with loose pussy bow blouses and heels by night.

FloraFoxley · 24/08/2013 16:08

No.

Unless you want to look like Suzi Quattro.

Steinerino · 24/08/2013 16:21

Thanks BaboucheI will try DP and Zara and I think half thick material would be better (less sweaty).

Steinerino · 24/08/2013 16:25

And River Island!

Chl0e · 24/08/2013 16:28

no. unless you are so thin that you need assistance to look less thin. Then I think they could be perfect. Team with uggs if you would like to appear shorter.

Steinerino · 24/08/2013 17:03

Love that kimono MrsCB.

MrsCampbellBlack · 24/08/2013 18:25

Honestly, unless you are wearing full on leather, I fail to see how they make you look like Suzi Q.

Steinarino - that kimono is so pretty isn't it.

I wore mine out with a cross over drapey silk shirt - looked nice I think. And flattering. I don't wear anything that makes me look fatter than I am.

If you want real leather - the Michael Kors ones are good from my-wardrobe and you can normally get good discount from them too.

BitchyRestingFace · 24/08/2013 20:58

Not for me, but only because I have heavy thighs and they just wouldn't do me any favours.

I love the look though. If I had lovely long lithe legs I'd be after a pair in dark brown. Real leather only though.
