What to wear to a nightclub!?!?

I am 43 and haven't been to a nightclub for about 13 years. I have no idea what to wear, as all my clothes seem so, well, middle aged. I am also going to the theatre in the afternoon so has to be suitable for that too. Please help. Oh, and this is for tomorrow, so no pressure.

How about a shift dress?

What clothes have you got, or what budget? height etc?

Skinny trousers, high shoes/sandals, a silky top and a light jacket to dress it down in the daytime.

But then I'm 47 and also haven't been clubbing for years, so I could be talking nonsense!

I am 5'5', size 12/14 with a mummy tummy (of course) that needs concealing. My best feature is my legs, but usually in tights which is not good in this weather. My smart clothes are work clothes, so knee length dresses and cardies. Don't really do trousers.

I am thinking vest top with a long skirt?

Ha! I am also 43 and just happen to have been clubbing recently. I would suggest skinny jeans, heels and sparkly top. If you have the legs, then shorts and ankle boots instead of jeans, but only as long as the warm weather holds. A lot of the younger people looked fab in cocktail dresses and high tops, but I think that's a look only carried off by those under 25. Have a fab night, and try not too look too surprised that drinks are 4 to 5 times more expensive than they were in the late 80s.

Is a skirt/dress really not an option? I do have some shorts, but they are more like a skirt iyswim. So shorts/skirt with vest top. Also heels with shorts? In my day (ha!) we didn't do heels with minis, and only legs or cleavage not both.

Thank you travelin, I wouldn't say my legs are excellent, and no time to buy disco pants so maybe next time. I have found some mega shoes so maybe short skirt.

What ever seems okay for nightclub makes me look like lady of the night for day wear.

Could you have a bag large enough to stick a pair of clubbing shoes in, so you're not feeling uncomfortable during the day?

I'm 35 and in this situation I would wear my midi black vest dress this one with an armful of bangles and my cropped 3/4 sleeve denim jacket. I would wear flat gold sandals for the day and take black statement spiky heel sandals in my bag for the club. I would also take make-up and add a smokey eye with extra lashings of mascara for the evening.

I might also do a sock bun for the day and take it out for wavy hair for the evening...
