What to wear to a wedding in Greece?

A colleague of DH's is getting married on an island near Athens next month and I'm not really sure what to wear? It starts at 6pm, there will be lots of dancing and we can walk from the hotel. Please can you lot give me some guidance on what to wear as I suspect it might be a little different from a UK wedding. I was thinking a maxi dress and some chunky jewelry.
Thanks!

Wear what you like (well apart from a while, wedding dress-like dress!). There are likely to be loads of people there, there may well not be room for everyone in the church or the ceremony may be held outside. The Greek Orthodox ceremony is fun to watch if you have never seen it, look out for the bit where the priest leads the couple for three circles around the holy table - that's the bit where you pelt them all with rice!!! The eating and drinking is likely to go on until the very early hours of the morning, so take a cardigan with you.

Have fun!
