Shopping with a 10 month old doesn't lend itself to prolonged trying on sessions so I'm hoping your collective wisdom will help me find a pair that fits well. I'm a curvy 12, 5ft6. Below is what I've tried so far. I want to wear them with long tops layered with jumpers baukjen style, or shirts / blouses tucked in (new look for me that i cant make work as yet) so if you think another style would be better with shirts? I tried straight jeans but couldn't find a pair that didn't look mumsy when full-length (have lived in rolled up/ cropped straight jeans this summer)

Dorothy Perkins - their Eden jeggings are fab but want a proper skinny so that I can tuck things in/ have a pair that aren't as clingy as jeggings

Gap - regular too long, ankle too short.

Next - wash and colour looked funny

Boden - great everywhere except waist - massive muffin top

New Look skinnies are pretty good. I have a few pairs and have never suffered with baggy knees and I often wear them five or six times before washing. I believe they have skinny and ultra/super skinny versions to choose from. I was advised by the shop assistants to choose my actual size not to size up or down in them

Topshop skinnies are a great fit and wash well. I love the Jamies and Kristens especially, but have a couple of pairs of Leighs too.

I like Top Shop, Fat Face and Gap. New Look also pretty good - I'm 5 ft 4 and size 10 but have a fat tummy and they're probably the best fit for me.

Thanks - will try new look and top shop tomorrow.

Another vote for Topshop Jamie and Leigh.

I also like Uniqlo Super Skinny - they're very comfy and stretchy (great if you're sitting on the floor playing with a little one!)

Jack Wills, think they are called Fernham? I'm size 10 with an impressive mum tum and can tuck it all in. Smile

M&S skinny jeggings. high-waisted and three lengths. Some with ankle zips, some not.

I love Zara skinny jeans. They are cheap, wash well and don't go baggy. That said they are very low rise and at 5ft6, you might find you would need to turn them up.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/08/2013 20:09

M&S jeggings or Topshop Jamie.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will try the ones I can visit first before going down the online ordering route - although the mango ones sound perfect!

has anyone bought Kristen jeans lately? I know from my own experience and the reviews on the Topshop site that they changed the material with the result that they went baggy at the knees really quickly (within an hour or so), and so could only be worn once before washing. Have the changed back to the original material (which was much better)?

I like Oasis Cherry skinny jeans.

I tried out the new look skinny (not the super slim option), and top shop baxters, as that was what was available in town from the list you suggested, that I hadn't already tried. I liked the baxters but not enough to pay twice the price of the new look ones. Instead I spent the difference on some teal Dorothy Perkins jeggings! Thanks again for the suggestions as it meant I was more focused in the hour I had to race round the shops.
