Can I wear a cream dress to a wedding?

Going to a friends wedding next Saturday - we're medium close, invited to the whole day but not in the wedding party or anything. I can't afford a new dress but have a lovely only-worn-once dress that I bought for DSs Baptism a few months ago. It's from Pepperberry but no longer on sale or else I'd have posted a link. It's a cream dress, not at all frilly/wedding dress-y, knee lenths, sleeve-less but with thick straps. It's cotton, reasonably plain but with patterned (still cream) sections on the skirt.

I will wear it with coloured accessories to minimise the cream/wedding effect. I also have an-almost one year old who will be attached to me/in the sling most of the day so really really not going to look like the bride! I don't know what the bride is wearing but do know her well enough to know it will be a traditional big white dress - full length, frilly, veil etc.

I really want to wear this dress - please can I???

Of course you can. Wear what you like. I never understand these threads about what you can and cannot wear. If the bride doesn't like it tough shit but at the end of the day she probably won't even realise.

As long as you are comfortable and happy with what you are wearing that is fine. No one dictates to me what I can and cannot wear though!

Have a good day.

Sounds perfect.
I love pepperberry - large of nork here too, so know how difficult it is to get something to fit.

Your plan to accessorise with strong colour is a good one for those tutting madams!

I think the groom knows who's he's marrying, so don't worry, you won't be involved in an elaborate switch!

Enjoy!

Lol at "elaborate switch" and agree with you re the bride not even realising - I hadn't a clue (and in all honesty couldn't have cared less) what the guests at my wedding were wearing.

Phew! Cream dress it is then!
