School trousers for skinny 11yo DD

We're struggling. She wants something that fits properly, not that has to be hauled in with elastic or belts. She's quite tall so really needs age 11-12 or even 12-13 for length, but they're all so massive round the bum and thighs.

Plus the fashion this year seems to be for skinny fit at the bottom, but she really likes boot cut ones, so that's limiting our choices too.

We've tried Tesco, M&S, New Look, Next. We're off to BHS in the morning, but I'm not hopeful having looked at their website.

She's not normally one to make a fuss about clothes, but she's off to a new school this year so it's important to her. Any ideas?

Next do a slim fit - I got some this year for my 11 year old skinny DD. Still with an adjustable waist, but not quite so much material around the waist and bum, so look better.

Oh I just re read and see you have tried Next - sorry, don't know where else to suggest.

Good luck!

Try ordering online for delivery to store, my local m and s didn't have any thing that remotely fitted, but their slim fit online was great

We used to buy these from M and S, getting the extra long a couple of years below their chronological age for a less baggy fit

Thanks everyone. We're off out to try again this afternoon, but I hadn't realised both M&S and Next have slim fit. There weren't any in at our local stores.

Looks like online is the way to go. If we don't get anywhere this afternoon I'll order a few and send them back if necessary.

We have had exactly this problem- just solved yesterday with these Next ones. not boot cut, but really nice (though expensive!)

I got tall slim dd an age twelve, she's eleven and a half.

They look great Marian. I might order them online.

We did get some today in BHS. They had some slim fit age 12 ones which are OK when the belt is done up. She also really loved some Tammy ones which were properly skinny, but we were a bit concerned that they didn't look very suitable for school uniform so we've agreed to buy them in a couple of weeks if others are wearing them.

Added bonus - all school uniform in BHS was half price. We got her blazer for £10!

Glad you got something- and a bargain! Wish I lived near actual shops..

Got the Next ones as a panic buy, dd was huckled by the uniform police for wearing school shorts over thick tights, which we had done as couldn't find blooming trousers! But too dear really, will look at bhs online for spares.
