Anyone else not understand kids coats without hoods?

Why do they do this? Dd walks to school through snow, wind and rain. She needs a hood. I don't want one that zips off, or has poppers and the gets lost, no do I want one that folds away. I want a hood which is attached properly to a coat. I don't even consider buying one without.

Do retailers have any idea of this?Grin

I hate hoods!! They get pulled at school in the playground and it tears the coat. Put a hat on if needed.

Retailers also know that kids hate hoods, 75% of winter tops already have hoods and wind will always pull it back to an uncomfortable position. Better to have a coat with a hood that can be detached to make it sellable to the largest possible market.

You like a hood- there is one, you don't? Unbutton/unzip it.

My nightmare as a child was being forced to pull my hood up. I hate things on/around my head and face, makes me feel claustrophobic.

Well my dd won't wear a hat, so I need my hoods!

I find hats more practical. Most hoods on kids coats are very large and won't stay on if there is wind too and don't keep ears warm when it is very cold.

Hat plus hood is probably best.

In my experience it is harder to get a child's coat with no hood than with one.

Hoods always fall down here unless a scarf is tied around.

I vote hat. And umbrella if pouring. Ours have those huge fur trapper style hats so they are nice and snugg

My DS refused to wear a hat or a hood - he survived, now at secondary school where they won't even wear a coat in pouring rain or snow Grin.

Hats at school are a nightmare! The children always take them off because they get hot running around, the hat gets lost (99% are Un-named), and then I have to spend ages helping to find them. For some reason they always manage to migrate from Year R round to KS2!
Hoods every time!

When my dc were still in the car seat and buggy I always preferred no hoods, and used a hat instead. My dc's still would prefer a hat than a hood, they usually take them off
