What about this dress for a wedding?

I've a friends wedding in 4 weeks and its going to be a really dressy affair. I've just lost my mojo recently and want to feel good for this event.

I'm 5"4, curvy 12 with ample boobs and a bit of a spare tyre. My legs aren't bad I suppose! I'm 34

What do you think of this dress? (Can't do proper link on my phone sorry) How would you style for a wedding?

That is a going out dress I think- 'dressy' for a wedding is not necessarily more blingy IYSWIM.

Is it an evening wedding?

What's your budget?

makingdoo · 11/08/2013 13:45

It's an Irish wedding - all day event.

Budget £150 max and would like to be trendy but not mutton. Would love a colour rather than black.

Any suggestions welcome.

What about something like this with a little fur shrug?

tethersend · 11/08/2013 14:23

this with gold drop earrings and killer heels?

tethersend · 11/08/2013 14:26

Or this with gold/tan heels and clutch?

tethersend · 11/08/2013 14:33

This?

makingdoo · 11/08/2013 16:19

Thanks tethersend but those aren't really my style. I do like the phase eight one but really want something that's nice by itself without having to dress it up iykwim

Something like this would be nice if you do ebay...

Episode · 11/08/2013 16:53

It's nice and will hide and completment what you need it too.

It needs NO accessories!!!!

A clutch and some heels will do!

tethersend · 11/08/2013 17:17

LOVE the first black zara shoes, Episode.

makingdoo · 11/08/2013 17:20

Thanks tethersend for taking the time to browse. I'm finding it hard to describe what I really want and suppose I'm quite fussy! I need a strong colour Blue, Green or a definite pink work well in me. I suit structured better than empire line or flowy.

I've got 5 weeks so not panicking yet!

Episode I was thinking of just a gold cuff and stud earrings. I've got lovely black Vivienne Westwood suede heels and a simple black clutch that would work. I think I will order it to see what it's like on. I fear it might look cheap in the flesh!

Ah, just go with your dress- it's nice and if you think it will work for the event, then do it Smile

makingdoo · 11/08/2013 17:33

Sorry I type so slowly on my phone that I missed your shoe links episode. Love the blue sandals and the Zara shoes.

Decisions!

Your figure sounds like me! This is what I wore recently:

oscarwilde · 12/08/2013 15:43

I think that Ms23's is better for an Irish wedding as there will presumably be a church service you will need to cover up slightly for?
The dress you have found is lovely but if the weather is bad or windy I think it is likely to a) blow up and b) be difficult to wear a jacket or coat with?

makingdoo · 12/08/2013 16:23

Thanks Ms23 very nice dress and would suit my figure.

Oscar You are right I was planning a black pashmina for the church. Tbh I didn't think my dress was that revealing! I'm assuming the model is quite tall so it won't be as short on me!

I'm just worried as my colleagues all have gorgeous dresses that they are wearing and I wanted something really nice too!

If it helps, I wore it to a posh wedding with black accessories and got a lot of compliments. It's a lovely material.

Twinklestein · 12/08/2013 23:46

I do think that dress is going to look cheap tbh. I'm not convinced by the shoulder bling & the dress doesn't sit well on the model.

I'd suggest something similar but plainer: like this

And bling it up with jewellery

Your gold cuff will look very nice with that colour blue.

I'd be tempted by those blue Office sandals, but it will be September & you might freeze.

The Pretty Dress Company have very flattering things this navy dress could be perfect:
