Best home hair dye?

Your recommendations please!

About 7-8 weeks ago I had my hair dyed at the hairdressers. Unfortunately they made a mess of it, I hate the colour and now can see roots showing. It was only a semi but usually covers my grey strands, but didn't this time quite.

I want to put a natural mid to dark brown semi on to cover the grey hairs (they are still individual hairs) and tone down the too bright coppery red they used. I can't afford to go back as dh currently out of work.

Can anyone recommend a good semi permanent home dye? I have skin problems but have never reacted in the past, but will test on a patch of skin first.

Thanks Smile

Nice and Easy Natural Medium Brown (or the cool brown version - which starts off really dark but lots of it washes out after about a week and leaves a perfect shiny non-red brown).

I might try the Natural Lightest Brown next time.

Have also used the Natural Medium Chestnut Brown.

I do like coppery lights, but the dye the hairdresser used just doesn't look natural at all, too flat and brash.

I used the 8 wash semi permanent version of this and am very happy with the colour. It hasn't quite covered the grey, but almost, so next time I'll try the next step up, that lasts 24 washes.
