Decent men's v-neck jumpers

I'm lost! My DH has decided that for his AW wardrobe he wants some decent v-necks that will last. I'm thinking this will prob be £££. Has anyone any ideas for decent shops/brands that will last more than one winter. He does tend to wear them most days in winter. In the past we've tended to stick to H&M, m&s, next and debenhams and house of Fraser but they all seem to go baggy and lose their shape.

What shops/materials should I be looking for please?

DH got his from John Lewis over the last couple of years. Good selection of colours and they wash very well. They don't seem to bobble either.Try to avoid things with acrylic or polyester in them and get something with a high wool content.

That sounds great Goodbye, thank you! Do you just stick them on a wool cycle in the machine?

My DH loves John Smedley, but they are ££ so I get them on the outlet site. They do different sales for 2-3 days at a time, eg, "mens striped sale" or "womens polo necks" so you have to hang about until you spot one you like. We are both lazy and so chuck them in the machine (he puts them in normally at 30, I do cold wool cycles!) and they have survived brilliantly. Jaeger mens ones are another favourite, and really lovely on.

I'm also going to try woolovers.co.uk as they look reasonable price and quality, but a little dowdy for me.

Finally massimo Dutti often has bargainous ones in the sales which are so flattering and gorgeous on my DH, but he doesn't wear them enough for me to testify long term quality.

Ooh they have a mens pullover sale "coming soon"

Decent men- or men's decent jumpers? :)

goodbyeyellowbrickroad · 08/08/2013 15:45

Yep - in the machine on a cool wool cycle and try to dry as flat as possible. We tend to put jumpers on the flat bit at the top of our indoor airer/clothes horse.

My DH wears Gant v necks in the winter. I tend to get them in the outlet shop in Gunwharf Keys in Portsmouth. They come in lots of colours and keep their shape well.

I'm impressed at a dh thinking about, 'His A/W wardrobe.' Dp's view of AW dressing is to put a jumper on top of his jeans and t-shirt, and summer dressing is to put knee length shorts on with his t-shirt, instead of jeans!

That said, he's got a couple of v-neck M&S cashmere ones.

Longleggedlovely · 08/08/2013 18:28

Thanks all! Some great suggestions, will have a proper look online later.

Remus - he's only thinking about it cos I bought quite a bit for myself and I asked him what he might need this year! Otherwise once all the nice boots are sold out everywhere he tells me he needs new boots (like he did last year!). His idea of A/W wardrobe usually consists of the same as your DH - honest!

Missbopeep - he's pretty decent! Just not fashionable or bothered about being fashionable!

DH has some very nice ones from Uniqlo - cashmere, merino, pure wool etc. They are washing and lasting well so far - much better than the crappy old acrylic Next ones he always used to buy.

I'd second John Smedley (at outlet prices) - beautiful knitwear which wears and washes so well
