after a comment that mystaplerisveil made

What did you strut in? And now you cringe at the very memory?

I thought I looked pretty cool in my bleached denim dungarees in about 1990. In my defence, I was only 13...

OnTheBottomWithAWomansWeekly · 03/08/2013 22:54

Wine batwing jumper. With navy script about 2 inches high going from one wrist to the other, across my (non existent) chest, with silver glittery three highlights saying " Fame Fame Fame Fame..." about 20 times.

AND (oh the icing on the cake) - the MATCHING LEGWARMERS!

OnTheBottomWithAWomansWeekly · 03/08/2013 22:55

Twas around 1985...

lizbee156 · 03/08/2013 22:59

Mine was dungarees too but these were short dungarees, purple and I wore them with Reebok trainer boots. To add to the awfulness I am very short with little legs so I looked like a badly dressed toddler Grin.
In my defence I too was in my teens.

Hulababy · 03/08/2013 22:59

1980s as a young teen - denim skirt, teemed with denim jacket. Think they were all stone wash :) Also teamed, I believe, with a nice reversible jumper. Ah - loved the 80s fashion!!!

MaryKatharine · 03/08/2013 23:02

-White puffball dress. I think I was 12.
-A bright orange blazer with shoulder pads worn with a tight black mini dress and really ugly high heels. I was about 18! Yuck!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/08/2013 23:27

Only yesterday I put on a pair of black leggings and a Tshirt to tidy up in the house and garden.
Nothing fancy but I didn't think I'd scare small children.....

Till DD points out I have a huge hole in the back and she could see my pants Blush

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/08/2013 23:29

Oh so many.

I used to wear a floor length brorderie anglaise black ball skirt, with an off the shoulder top and 6 inch stiletto black suede boots, which I'd invariably take off half way through the evening in favour of dancing barefoot.

I also remember v fondly (but would never wear again) a bright pink crushed velvet mini dress with a scoop back and flared skirt. I wore this with opaque tights and DMs when I was PREGNANT fgs.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/08/2013 23:31

Oh and I also used to wear a white cotton brorderie anglaise bra/crop top with a lace petticoat, as an outfit, with PE pumps from Woolies. Shock

scrumpkin · 03/08/2013 23:40

Remus, those outfits sound fab! I'd wear them now Blush

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/08/2013 23:53

:) I was young and v slim, but I suspect that I still looked like a scarecrow.

IDontBowlOnShabbos · 03/08/2013 23:58

Crazy mosh jeans. Bloody awful and ridiculously expensive!

PaleHousewifeOfCumbriaCounty · 04/08/2013 00:02

Ditto on the mosher jeans. With cropped vest top and dog collar. What a nob. Great times tho!

Secretswitch · 04/08/2013 05:36

Silver ripstop nylon jumpsuit (circa 1985) I thought I was the bomb..more likely looked like a NASA reject..

cantreachmytoes · 04/08/2013 07:54

I used to have a knee-length black dress I wore to parties. I don't like tights so wear hold ups. I wore this quite often and felt great. Sadly I'd never bothered to check what the outfit looked like sitting down. Saw a photo and realised that sitting with my legs crossed, the whole side if my leg was exposed showing the top if the hold ups. I'd worn this to some quite formal events and was mortified!

Perhaps worse outfit was the cream quilted biker boots (cheap and looked it), brown or navy opaque tights, purple, paisley velour skirt (just above knees) and baby pink puffa jacket. I thought I looked like a cool-feminine-biker-chick. Given that I was of particularly well endowed bosom at the time, I looked like Mrs Michelin. I was old enough to know better - 20. Think I only wore it once or twice and after getting some funny looks, didn't repeat!

buttercrumble · 04/08/2013 08:14

I wore trousers with a skirt bit attatched over the top. I wore them on a date with my now dh, he told me 16 years later that they were bloody awful .I thought they looked amazing Grin

TallulahBetty · 04/08/2013 09:24

Faded jeans and white silk shirt. I was about 10 and thought I looked amaze Hmm Blush

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 04/08/2013 09:52

oh all the above with the broderie anglaise and the flowing velvet skirts and so on... but quite recently... The playsuit trend. I failed to realise that you either need to have no bottom at all and preferably be under 20 to wear the high street examples or be very beautifully curvy and wear super expensive designer ones.

I am a pear shape. A 10-12 pear, but still a pear. Dressipi has helped me enormously.

beepoff · 04/08/2013 09:56

Bootcut, snakeskin print black PVC trousers, teamed with a tight black long sleeved mesh top with bralet underneath (top half weirdly back in fashion now!). I thought I looked really sexy and cool. I didn't.

beepoff · 04/08/2013 09:59

Ooh and a fluoro lime green polyester trouser suit.

A beige knitted waistcoat with duffel coat style toggle fastening, over a pale pink turtleneck body and flowery pink jeans.

It was the 90s.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/08/2013 11:16

Oh gods - I've just remembered that I had a waistcoat made out of tiny, multi-coloured crochet squares. I wore it over a black velvet floor length dress with DMs. Dear Lord - why didn't somebody TELL me?

PaleHousewifeOfCumbriaCounty · 04/08/2013 22:23

Oooooohhhhh the skirt/trouser combo! hides face

ChocChaffinch · 04/08/2013 22:24

ai gawd my purple shell suit with green and pink flashes
