Ooooooookay. 47yo. Size 12 bum. Size 14 top (so I HAVE to have a bra or re-inforced top )

I've got my suncare/toilettries/cosmetics sorted out.

I've got my swimsuits and a couple of cover-ups/ dresses.

We're going AI so not really going out of the resort much . Pretty up pool-shower-dinner-evening entertainment.

I've got a long crinkle skirt and a couple of tops
Animal print trousers(Grin judge me) + brown or black top
Black/white trousers
A denim short skirt
Various vest tops
A multiway bra

But I need some shorts don't I for during the day if we go out.
If I look now I might get the tail end of the stock.

(I don't think I've even got my Status Quo style denims cut offs now)

Any pointers?

TIA

I got mine in matalan

Bunbaker · 02/08/2013 22:52

There is hardly any summer stuff in the shops now. Most stores have got rid of their sale stuff. You might be more likely to find summer clothes in retail parks that sell end of lines - Gap outlet, Next outlet etc rather than a town centre or shopping mall.

Eastpoint · 02/08/2013 23:03

GAP had loads of really nice shorts this summer but their sizing is off, they come up really big.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/08/2013 23:24

I got mine in H&M.
But I saw some v nice ones in the end of the WC sale the other day.

meditrina · 02/08/2013 23:31

I was out trying to get shorts earlier this week, as I've lost weight (hooray) and last year's pair are hanging off me.

Next to nothing left anywhere, and nothing remotely suitable. I've dug out a belt instead.

Good luck - hope you have more success than I did.

nothernexposure · 02/08/2013 23:36

Gave up finding any shorts having looked in all shops for past month Ended up buying some trousers and chopping off at the knees.... Even struggle with that today. For some reason still loads of mens shorts tho Confused.

J Crew chino shorts, in the sale and excellent quality.

MrsNoodleHead · 02/08/2013 23:48

Was just coming to say J Crew. I have now got 7 pairs of their shorts Blush. They are great quality, come in different lengths, lots of colours and there's 40% off sale prices with the code STYLE40. Bargainoso.

I've had a look at some online and got some navy linen M&S shorts (the patron saint of old fogeys like me Grin )

My DD will have a Cats Bum Face if I try to drag her round the scrag ends of the salesHmm

I'm pretty sure I've still got some white denim shorts from last year (they were from Matalan) but they got covered in suntan cream so went a bit yellowey.
I'm sure they did wash ok.
Will send DH up to the attic tomorrow to search.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I tried JCrew but it kept directing me onto the USA site.

"Nooo, I want UK Chino shorts" I typed.
Computer said "No".

shorts

frenchfancy · 03/08/2013 06:24

I was just wondering why you NEED shorts. Just wear a skirt or a dress instead. I only wear shorts when camping, and then only for putting up or taking down the tent. Other than that I stick to skirts.

Yonihadtoask · 03/08/2013 06:31

Same as above poster.

I only wear shortage for running.

Much prefer skirts for summer. They are looser, dont ride up?
I also think they look a bit smarter especially if out shopping or sightseeing.

A lot of shops now have little in the way of summery clothes though. Matalan had some last time I was in.

BuildersTea · 03/08/2013 06:32

I bought a pair in M&S yesterday for £9,50 (full price). They were with all the swimsuits. They had white, khaki (which I bought), bright blue and black. Natural waistline, so and proper bum covering mid-thigh length.

BuildersTea · 03/08/2013 06:35

Also, the H&M City Shorts are really nice too. Longer length, more substantial cotton and fit very well. They look smarter than the M&S ones I bought, if that's the look you want.

Ihatemytoes · 03/08/2013 06:38

Next have some.

CorrieDale · 03/08/2013 06:46

Are the j crew shorts in the link American sizing?

MrsNoodleHead · 03/08/2013 07:56

Re J Crew - there's a little "Ship to: [flag]" bit in the top left hand corner. Click it and change to the Union Jack and it will give you UK prices.

When you checkout it will add on tax for you, but there's free shipping and returns (I think!).

Yes, US sizing. It's reasonably generous too.

mysteryfairy · 03/08/2013 11:26

I ordered these this morning for similar reasons - they had some smaller sizes earlier but I think they must be updating the website with returns as they weren't there a couple of days ago so you could keep an eye out.
