What colour nails with a bright red dress?

We're having a party on Saturday and I'm wearing a bright red dress. This is not the dress but is a very similar colour.

Shoes and jewellery gold or silver, haven't decided yet but can go either way.

I have an appointment to have my nails Shellaced on Friday. Last time I had 'Tropix' which is a kind of corally-pink which just will not go. What colour would you go for?

It's not very summery but I love sparkly charcoal grey like this with red paler grey is the shade of the moment though, would you go for that?

Before I opened up your thread and saw the reply above I was going to suggest grey as well...

Would go well with the silver accessories ... but not sure if I'm brave enough!

I'd have to go for a colour myself. A very clear sky blue would look great with this red and would make the colour really pop.

Navy or grey

I struggle a bit with navy nail varnish. A bit too much of the 'trapped the fingernails in the car door' look for my liking.

Honestly, keep nails nice and short and dark grey looks fantastic and goes with everything - important if you are having shellac (not sure I've seen charcoal shellac though, which may be an issue).

Looks like dark grey is available, but not necessarily from the salon I'm going to. From memory she had a choice of a couple of dozen shades, so not the full range.

Not sure I'm glamourous enough to pull it off!

I like short dark nails too. Not so much in summer though. Id go for Metallic or an opaque soft white with shimmer like, lots of coats of Chanel white satin. They should be able to achieve those with the shellac colours.

I'd go for a taupe or grey, alternatively metallic (I like Estee Lauder Explosiv with gold, and would go for a dark silver/platinum colour if going for silver accessories).

A light pink or nude could work too if you like those light nail colours.

You could also do colour-blocking and go for orange/coral/pink nails. Might be better with accessories in those colours too, but it'll be more summery and young than taupe/grey/dark colours.

A taupe or brownish nude would be easier to wear than a grey and probably more flattering. Essie Chinchilly is a classic, not sure what's available for Shellac but if you'll be stuck with the colour for a few weeks then don't go for something you're not sure about! Darkest red like Chanel Rouge Noir is also good with bright red clothes but I think a bit wintry.

Thanks all, certainly some food for thought!

I would either go french manicured/natural colour or match the red of the dress. you could do natural on fingers and red on toes if visible.
