Do you have really really long hair?

CUT IT OFF!

It give 90% of the population the creeps, it doesn't look nice, you can never have it loose anyway, it doesn't MATTER if you can sit on it, and it shows a serious lack of imagination, personality and maturity.

GO AND GET A DECENT HAIRCUT!

Love my long hair! - don't care what others think - it's so liberating - no hairdresser - wash & go.

crunchie · 10/06/2006 23:07

My pet hate, simply because it looks so awful is the tight wet look gel covered perms. I don't know if anyone knows what I mean, but we have a new girl at work, who is really lovely, BUT I so want to give her a massive hair makeover as it just looks chav at the mo :)

hmmm, pph, i am trying to work up the energy to be outraged by your thread. unfoortunately it is far affr too hot.

i used to have beautiful thick long hair . moving my head forwards was an automatic response whenever i would sit.
healthy long hair is far and away more beautiful than any sort of cut hair, no matter how #'styled' it might be. it s not called a woman's crowning glory for nothing.

i cut my hair off when it was ruined by nit shampoo. and unfortunatley have never had the patience to grow it since. but, honestly, i cant understand why anyone would think that healthy shiny hair isnt beautiful?

stitch · 11/06/2006 00:07

hmmm, was going to post links to some really ugly short hairdos, but cant be bothered.

olivia35 · 11/06/2006 00:10

Hmmm.

We had a student at work with bum-length hair, & I was amazed how many people it DID seem to creep out - I thought she looked lovely. It was clean, in good condition & a nice colour: what's not to like?

You'd probably want to get good at putting it up though, to get taken 'seriously' for 'proper' jobs by dull men with comb-overs, or women who care far too much about other people's hair...

singledadofthree · 11/06/2006 00:13

i used to have fairly long hair - went 5 years without a cut - my kids took the mick something rotten and i could tell their mates parents thought me a scruffy git. is now short and dull.

essbee · 11/06/2006 00:13

I used to have waist length hair and loved it! I did do hairdressing at the time tho so it was trimmed/ deep treated regularly tho. I only cut it off after I had my ds as he was determined to grab and chew it!! No way would I have it long again now. It's currently above my shoulders.

stitch · 11/06/2006 00:16

long hair is far far easier to care for than short hair. all it needs is a regular trim to get rid of split ends, and deep conditioning everys o often.
no need for hair dryers straighteners or a gazillion forms of guck to get a look that is actually not that flattering in the first place.

ggggrrrr, i am slowly working up the outrage.

zoeuk1 · 11/06/2006 12:49

princesspeahead, i couldnt agree more. the really really long hair that gradually tapers off at the bottom with loads of split ends. usually slightly frizzy and just awful hanging there. i hate it even more when people with really long hair swing their heads about so you get whipped in the face. horrible when you're standing behind them.

TooTicky · 12/06/2006 15:47

So pph and zoeuk, are you both the overly superior oozing-with-hairspray types who take pleasure in insulting people because they choose a different way? It's hurtful and downright rude.

SaintGeorge · 12/06/2006 15:58

I have a decent haircut thanks PPH. Just because my hair is long - and yeah, I can sit on it - doesn't mean I have a lack of imagination, personality or maturity.

Not so sure what your comments say about you on the other hand.

SecurMummy · 12/06/2006 16:06

Hmm, interesting, thought provoking, well balanced post there PPH, well done.

Oh sorry, I didn't see the bit in the op that stated she only meant those who had never had hair cuts or washed their hair - let me check...

No, she doesn't.

OMG fuck world hunger, PPH does not like your haircut

PrincessPeaHead · 12/06/2006 16:19

quite right, don't care how much you wash it - if you can sit on it I think its horrible. Have a hair cut! Go on!

Didn't realise we were only allowed to discuss world hunger on this site, darn. Let them eat baby pasta, I say

And I ALWAYS use copious amounts of hairspray. It is the only way I can get my tiara to stay on straight.

Hmm i have been worrying that my hair is getting too long lately it is down to my bra strap (BUT is v shiny and well cut)

Tell me your royalness should I go for the chop?

It is layered though so a bit shorter at front

PrincessPeaHead · 12/06/2006 16:28

I don't mind long hair! Just really long "look aren't I clever I haven't cut it since I was two and it is down to my bottom and looks crap" hair!

Have it chopped for summer if you are bored of it drac - although I think you probably look nice with shoulder length hair.... muses.....

OP posts:
ameli · 12/06/2006 16:28

i have long hair, due for trim soon, cos it looks like it needs a restlye,my hubbie doesnt want me to cut it....loves the whole feminine long flowy hair. its sits just on my bra strap at back....i agree really really long hair is not a good look, but each to their own! yuk at the nits bit stitch...cringe.

ameli · 12/06/2006 16:29

restyle

CountessDracula · 12/06/2006 16:34

hmm pph

I do like it but sometimes I think maybe unseemly in an old bat like me

SaintGeorge · 12/06/2006 16:35

I have absolutely no idea what your hair looks like but it really is awful. Horrible in fact.

Angry
CountessDracula · 12/06/2006 16:36

sorry?

SaintGeorge · 12/06/2006 16:45

Not you CD, you posted in between.

Just pissed off generally at the attitude of some people who think it is ok to make comments like those in the OP.

zoeuk1 · 12/06/2006 18:45

i was just saying that personally i think the long long hair which gradually tapers at the bottom because it hasnt been cut looks horrible. thats my opinion though. this is a style forum, so i guessed we would be talking about style and i dont think that kind of hair is stylish. as i said , just my opinion ,which we are all entitled to.

zoeuk1 · 12/06/2006 18:48

and im sure there are people out there that think my hair is awful too. its dark and curly and really BIG, but i like it.

LotosEater · 12/06/2006 18:57

how about \link{http://www.tlhs.org/l_hair140.jpg\this style} IME shows imagination Grin
