The pitfalls of grooming...

Having been inspired by some of the grooming threads recently I decided to paint my toenails this morning as I was up very early (thanks DD)

I picked out a lovely bright red and applied two coats.

Then DD decided to come and stand on my feet so we could "walk" together. I shouted "Noooo" at which point she giggled and ran off leaving a trail of little red footprints all over the rug.

So now I have, ruined toenails, a ruined rug and a baby with bright red feet.

This groong stuff is hard work...

So harsh. Don't give up! Grin

Is it just me who finds that it takes more money and time to just look half way decent the older I get?

It was easy in my 20s, but as a 35 year old, hair cuts have to be more expensive, home dyes don't cut it, more expensive lotions and potions, more expensive cosmetics and more waxing as my pubes nearly reach my knees. The list could go on.

I can see why people reach a certain point and give up.

totally paul. patch, patch patch all the time.

Indeed madmomma, and don't even get me started on those pesky chin hairs.

Paintyourbox · 30/07/2013 09:06

My mother has been gleefully warning me about chin hairs for some time.

It's an injustice that I have thick, yeti like hair all over my limbs but thin, flyaway hair on my head!

Just make sure you always have a pair of tweezers in your bag and one at home. Grin

When your eyesight gets so bad that you can't see without them but you can only focus on things held at armslength.......

THEN you stop caring or trying Grin

I read somewhere that after a certain age one should crawl to the bathroom with eyes shut in the morning and not look in the mirror until you've washed, dressed and put yourself together. Thus avoiding the sight of your own naked face at all costs I reckon if I tried maybe I could put a full face of makeup on without a mirror.

That's the benefit of being very shortsighted madmomma I look incredible every morning until my contact lenses go in...

Grin Maybe I should squint slightly when I look in the mirror first thing.

madmomma · 31/07/2013 09:18

Ha I am also half-blind so I should just just smear vaseline over my glasses.

peasandlove · 31/07/2013 09:29

what age do these chin hairs start appearing?

UtterflyButterfly · 31/07/2013 10:02

Ah paint, hope you can get the varnish off the rug (and the DD!).

I'm in my 50's and don't have chin hairs, but I do have a definite upper lip shadow, which I can only see to pluck with my glasses on, a magnifying mirror and the sun coming in the window at the right angle!

I'm off to visit my (always well turned-out) DD this weekend, so am having a morning doing nails, aforementioned top lip, hard skin on heels etc etc in the hopes I won't embarrass her too much!
