Travelling with jewellery - how to pack it safely?

I'm going on holiday, a sort of once in a lifetime style trip. I want to make sure all the photos we take look as good as they can so I'm taking a lot of care over what outfits I choose rather than my usual bunging a few pairs of shorts and the odd sun dress into a suitcase.

To complete outfits I am packing several necklaces, nothing expensive, just costume jewellery. How do I pack them so they don't just tangle into one massive ball of necklace? Is there a way of packing them that keeps them in one piece?

At the moment I'm thinking each one in a separate sandwich bag or something?

You know what, putting them in a separate sandwich bag isn't a bad idea! I will try that next time.

I always have this problem, I usually just put them into a little make up bag but theres always some that seem to get tangled.

This article gives some good tips! Although it looks time consuming :-/

I have a craft box like this that I travel with my jewellery in. Keeps it all nice and seperate, and you can move the dividers around in it to suit

I have a jewellery roll that has clips for each necklace

That's maybe a bit big for your needs but you can get smaller ones... and fancy ones etc.

Where are you going OP?

justaweeone · 29/07/2013 19:17

I know some one who lays out all here clothes for each day/evening with accessories and takes a photo on her phone
I think a jewellery tool or even sandwich bags would do
Though muji do some good things so might be worth a look
Have a great hol x

I wish you hadn't suggested that.... it hadn't occurred to me until now....

Would this work with regular clingfilm?

OP posts:
BrilloFad · 29/07/2013 20:28

The clingfilm thing works perfectly. They can't move about so can't get tangled and they pack flat so it is perfect.

That's a brilliant idea, about the clingfilm. My favourite necklace is seemingly designed to instantly knot itself impenetrably as soon as my back is turned. Will try the clingfilm trick Smile
