Brazilian Blow dry kit - did you use GHD straighteners when applying it?

I have asked this question on other posts but am hoping some of you can tell me about your experience of what straighteners work ok during the process. I am not sure if my GHD's are hot enough. Thanks.

I did use them. I think it's meant to be 200 degrees for best results. GHDs are 230.

Did read somewhere that the newer GHD's don't get hot enough for a Brazilian blow dry they only heat to 185 degrees you need straighteners that reach 230 degrees for a Brazilian blow dry to work.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 29/07/2013 13:54

yes, they are certainly hot enough and don't forget, you go over each section 7 - 10 times so hair gets really really hot

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 29/07/2013 13:55

ooh x post, didn't realise they had reduced heat on the newer ones.

Thanks everyone for reply. The reason I asked is because I have two pairs of ghd's. One set is 8 years old and the other maybe a year (my mum gave me the newer set). Which is why I am not buying anymore straighteners.

My newer set are ghd eclipse and on looking up the instructions it says it heats up to 185 degrees.

My old set work fine so may just stick with them then.

Thanks again everyone.

Bumping - just want to know if anyone has used their GHD's for the straightening process of the BBD? If so did it work well? Thanks.

yes I used my GHDs (old ones so hot sort)and they worked fine. I also bought a heat protection glove from amazon for around £5 after the first treatment as you go over your strands 7 - 10 times and hair gets really really hot.

trickydickie · 31/07/2013 16:31

Thanks stepaway - I have one of the heat protection gloves already (for curling tongs I have). Good to know the ghd's worked. My kit has arrived so will do it Sunday or next week.
