DTD2 is very tall and very leggy.

She needs black school trousers. I very much doubt childrens 'long' trousers will be long enough (last years m&s long are about 2-3" too short, but open to a retailer I have missed (not BHS, Tesco, Sainsburies, Asda).

It is very likely I will have to go for an adult size 6 long, but I am struggling to find a style which isn't too tailored and 'officey' or too casual. They just don't look like school trousers. They also need to be a style where I can alter the waist as she is exceedingly skinny and adult sizes don't have adjustable waists.

Budget, as little as possible as I will need to be 2-3 pairs.

Do you know next do slim trousers? For my dd I buy the next age up in slim . They are still big but much longer than her actual age .worth a try ?

Next long jeans don't fit, but I will have a look.

The problem is that adult long jeans are only just the right length. I find that in general childrens trousers are too baggy for her legs as they get bigger.

I don't know many girls at my secondary school who wear "school trousers". They all seem to wear young adult styles.

Dd1 is 13 and had some from New Look last year (she's also tall and needed their longer leg trousers). I think we got them from the office wear section for about £10 ish, but she was a size 8 rather than a 6, I don't think I've seen many 6s around.

How tall is she? The M&S extra long school trousers have an 83cm (33 inch) inside leg in the bigger sizes. Is that not long enough because in my experience that's equivalent to a ladies long leg.

I just looked at Dorothy Perkins tall - nothing there at the moment but I think as more autumn stock comes in they might have something cheap ish.

uniqlo tend to come up long and offer in store shortening

Thanks I'll have a look, 33" should be enough.

I tend to find that an adult size 6 long is a slimmer fit (especially around the bum and legs) than childs age 14-16 iyswim.

She is sooooo leggy and skinny getting clothes to fit is one of the most stressful things I do (second only to finding size 7-8 shoes in a narrow fit that are suitable for school....but thats another thread).

I have just bought some from our school uniform shop. They sell a range of waist/length combos. They fitted DD (or at least they will by the end on Sept - currently an inch or so too long Grin

EdwiniasRevenge · 29/07/2013 10:37

That may be a solution.

They don't sell black trousers at the shop I have to get other stuff from so had given up there. Have just looked at another school wear shop which do waist/leg combos.

The longest they do is 32" which should be a goer. They are expensive but I have a friend that gets a hefty discount which brings them back to m&s prices.
