Urgent gel nail disaster

I had my nails done with gel polish in preparation for my holiday. I'm leaving on Tuesday. However, I decided to do my toes myself. To protect my nails, I wore vinyl gloves when using the nail varnish remover and doing everything else. But my cunning plan has failed, because my thumb, index and middle nails on my right hand don't look right anymore! They've gone quite dull and the thumb has a bit of a rough texture. I'm really gutted. Obviously, I spent a fair bit on having them done and I'm a perfectionist, so although the colour is fine the texture and dullness will drive me absolutely crazy for the next three weeks.

When she finished doing my nails, she put on a top coat that she then left to dry, so it didn't have to go under the setting light. I'm wondering if perhaps I could get some non-acetone nail varnish remover, use it on the affected nails and then apply my own top coat. Do you think this could repair the damage, or would I be likely to just make the situation worse? Thanks for any advice.

Go back to the place where you had them done and get them repaired

Unfortunately, they're closed tomorrow and I'm off for Heathrow at about six on Tuesday morning.

Call them up and get them sorted

Ah x-post. You could use nail varnish remover on the topcoat and replace

So attempt non-acetone remover and then replace the top coat? Fingers crossed it works!

You can definitely remove top coat with non acetone remover and then reapply. Will be fine. Have a fabulous holiday.

Oh, thank you! I've just added that to list of things to do, right under having my eyebrows threaded.
