My best purchase has definitely been the J Crew chino shorts. They are the most flattering shorts I've ever tried.

I'd still like to find the elusive cotton dress that works for walking round town in as well as being in the garden. But being an apple shape seems to make this an impossibility.

A bright blue dress from Michael Kors I thought was quite expensive but have lived in.

A Gap cotton jersey dress in blue, elasticated waist, 2 flat pockets. Picked it up on sale one day, a real quick buy, have worn it to death. Can't find it on the website. Funny how some buys turn out to be unexpectedly fabulous.

And these sandals in black from &other stories. Wore and wore and wore to work. Lovely irl. Loads of compliments. Comfy, leather upper and sole, decent heel yet walkable in. I love other stories shoes. So many shoes so little money........

I have lived in my red saltwater sandals this summer. Best buy ever. My feet are the most sensitive trotters ever and I have literally walked miles and miles in these glorious sandals.

I've worn a navy blue linen dress - sort of an A line shape with either tan or gold flats. Really simple shape that can just be thrown on. I've worn it to sports day and festivals - very versatile and I wish that I'd bought more.

Wowow on those shoes, lurkingaraound. And that whole shop actually. Never come across it before. These are the shoes I couldn't find on the high street this summer.

A white linen jacket from h&m that I picked up in a charity shop. It has seen me posing in Paris, cool while commuting, and dressy for dinner.

CoTan I love it too. I don't have any of their clothes but the shoes and bags make me sort of swoon. So many lovely things....

2 weeks left Mrs Campbell so not too bad, I'm not buying new clothes for a fortnight of hugeness

charlotte and wips i have that dress too and was going to say i've lived in it all summer.

My ancient DM sandals which are aubergine/red and so so beautiful, and strong and comfortable and they are starting to go at the seams after a good 6 years.

I need some to replace them but so far nothing is up to scratch.

I did buy some camper shoes but they're more for winter really.

I've just worn whatever fits. Sometimes shorts or cropped cotton trousers with a tee or white blouse, sometimes a cotton dress bought in the sales the last year or two.

All I've bought this summer is some good running trainers and socks and some cheap sports bras. I've tried on a few dresses which would be lovely if I lost a few pounds, but I can't risk the spend on something I can't wear right away (or might be too big next year) so will try again later in the sales if ive lost a little weight by then.

Slouchy, tapered boyfriend jeans from Primark.

Zara linen t-shirts, one leopard print one heart print. I went a bit 'investment buy-y' and bought 2 as they'll do me for years .

Havianas.

Banana republic shorts. Newly got the neon ones. People stop and stare they're so so bright

Boden jersey dress which is lovely - dries really quickly when washed and doesn't need ironing

My firetrap Bellamy maxi dresses, my havianas, and tan red or dead deenas.

My sketchers go walk. The one shoes to rule them all.

LadyM - I have some gap ones like that in neon pink. DH pretends to rave everytime I wear them, the joke never wears thin - for him at least.

I have worn mango and gap white embroidered tops loads with black shorts and black flip flops. Not many dresses no bright colours really Silky cropped chinos have worn a lot and primark jeggings grey and white

cotton sundresses from Zara, Boden, Next, H&M, Topshop & vintage. I have quite a collection which generally only get worn on holidays to sunnier climes. Such a good buy since so much summer stuff is now polyester.

I've also been wearing a very flattering pair of Hilfiger check shorts. They are cream with navy & dusky pink checkered pattern on them and are the most flattering shorts I have ever owned. They are quite short but not hotpants - long enough to wear outside of the confines of the garden
