So where do I go shopping for work clothes ??

Hi all,

I've left this rather too late - I'm due back at work in a weeks time and really need some new work clothes (to fit my new post pregnancy size :( )
I work in a very formal place so have usually shopped mostly at TM Lewin... but would like to try something different...

I need some new shirts, tops, skirts and dresses.... any advice ??

tm lewin is a good shop, though I would also try the likes of BHS, New Look etc. BHS have some nice discounts just now.

Have you tried the more formal offerings from Banana Republic and J.Crew? Zara also do some fairly smart dresses but I find them a bit hit and miss on quality.

I like Phase Eight for work clothes - their jersey dresses are very forgiving - I'm pregnant and still wearing them. Or Austin Reed if you need to be a bit more formal.

Have you looked at Austin Reed? Their clothes are expensive but with great discounts in the sale. Think it's the last week.

I work in a formal place but have switched to wearing dresses with jackets. Other than Austin Reed, John Lewis Collection always have one/two suits per season that are worth getting. Banana Republic is the staple wardrobe for most office based workers in the US and they do regular 30% off (they're here now). The other US staple is Ann Taylor. They're not here in the UK but ship here. Finally, Zara, I have a couple of suits that cost me peanuts (admittedly bought in Spain so cheaper) but have lasted me years.

I forgot to add Hobbs. I rarely get anything there these days but they have an outlet store on line that's worth looking it. I did also get a dress from M&S last year so I wouldn't totally discount them.
