and haven't a clue what to wear. I'm on the large side, size 22 apple. It's for a french/english customer care position.
Does it need to be a suit? What kind of top with it? please help. This my first interview in 13yrs and a step up for me.

What's your colouring? Black seems quite french to me, plus fashion nod with the trim.

lesleyberry · 26/07/2013 23:14

Dont have to wear a suit, a nice dress or maybe something like a bluse and a cardigan, whatever you are comfortable in

internationallove985 · 26/07/2013 23:28

Well firstly congratualtions... I hope it goes well for you. Remember they've called you to interview because they believe you are an excellent candidate for this role.
I would wear a nice dress
minimal make up if you wear it (just lip gloss and mascara)
Arrive 15 minutes early.
Shake their hand and show enthusiasm.
Look them in the eye but don't stare at them
If you are given a question that you don't understand rather than trying to bluff your way through just say I'm sorry I don't understand and ask them to clarify.
Research the company a little as they may ask you what you know about them.
With your interview being on Monday try and get everything ready on Satuarday so as you can use the Sunday to relax and do something you enjoy.
Remember to thank them for the interview.
Good luck. Try and let us know how it goes xxx

Also if you're anything like me and wont go any where with out nail polish.. either wear a light pink, sliver or a french manicure. Don't wear anything too bright. xx

tethersend · 26/07/2013 23:54

Could you wear a 20?

If so, this dress would be perfect.

You could go with a jacket like this.

Bon chance Smile

tethersend · 27/07/2013 07:17

Bonne chance even!

qazxc · 27/07/2013 13:46

Merci a tous!

I think i'll go with a plain black dress and jacket. I just feel that suits make me look too boxy/ like a rugby player in drag.
I just have to prepare answers to common interview questions in french and english, eeeeekkkk.
Any tips on hair and make up?
Oh god, I'm so useless at this stuff. I pretty much wear the same stuff i used to as a teenager (fitted jeans, t shirt, checked shirt and hi tops converse most days) and don't bother with make up unless on a night out.

Decide right now what you're going to wear and get it ready. Then spend the time on preparing your answers to the questions: that's really the priority if you don't have much time. Agree with the person who suggested researching the company so you know their business and customers. Have answers to questions such as:

  • "How would you deal with a difficult customer?"
  • "What would you do if you realised you'd made a mistake at work?"
  • "What achievement at work has given you the most satisfaction and why?"

And have a question or two for them, especially if you can think of one that shows you've done your homework on them. For example, "I see you are trying to attract xxx type of customers. How successful is the company in doing this?"

Best of luck.
