What shall I buy to go with my new dress?

Just got this today, I really like it, but no idea what to wear with it. Bought it specifically as holiday wear (going to California for all of August), so I guess I could wear it during the day in town, or for dinner in the evening. It's a bit of a funny colour, I think I'd like a very very lightweight cardi but don't have a clue what colour.

If it makes any difference, I'm 50, size 10, shoulder length brownish hair.

Basic cream cardi?
Crochet shrug?

Yes, I'm thinking cream, but also wondering whether that sort of pale grey/khaki colour might tone it down. I don't know what the colour is called but they always have it in Mint Velvet (except today when I want it!)

Thanks again Walrus, I think the White Stuff one would be great, as I could wear it open and it's quite plain (the dress is quite fancily embroidered)
