I want to ask how much things are

Hi all,

I am a hopless shopper and for more years now than I care to think about have had very little money. When I do go shopping I'm a nightmare as nothing fits and I always come back with the wrong colour and its usually the very end of the sales rack stuff anyway because that's all I have been able to afford.

In August, for the first time in about 5 years I will start to have some disposable income in the month and will be able to smarten myself up but an generally useless at styling. I've decided I would like to have a "me improvement" programme but I dont really know how much things cost. So, do you lovely ladies know how much the following cost roughly (I'm in the North East so wouldnt be paying London prices) -

  1. A colour analysis session, feel I really need some professional opinions on this.
  1. Personal shoppers, not sure I fancy going to the department store ones as I think they'll just be on comission, I want someone to really help me with shape and style etc in lots of different shops
  1. Laser hair removal - want to get my lady bits sorted but no idea how much that costs

Thanks for any help

Go to Fenwicks and they will sort you out on number 2 and its free (or was) and they are not at all pushy. Just describe what you are looking for and go with it.

(are you in Newcastle ?)

There is a clinic in Jesmond that does 3 and iirc it was about £300.

If you are shopping for clothes and not sure if the colour is for you or not just hold it in front of you. Go to the mirror and hold in front of you covering your own clothes. Your face is either enhanced or looks grey/ old/ tired/ pale and that item is not for you.

Must admit that I did have a colour thing done many years ago and that I do seem to know which colours might suit.

My daughter has a friend who always looks stunning - apparently she tries on everything when clothes shopping. Everything. and I can see that that would help you to find things that look good on you. Unfortunately I hate clothes shopping and don't have the patience for that, however I did try on dozens of outfits when I looked for something to wear to a wedding and ended up with something which wasn't my style but actually flattered me.
