I have just read a post about someone's dd hair turning green after being in the pool and this has reminded me that this can happen however I have just tonight had my highlights redone and I am going away next week abroad on holiday - will I end up with green hair?

I don't have my hair bleached it is just a blonde shade put on.

No experience of blond hair (sultry brunette here) but I wait as long as humanely possible after dye before I wash my hair again.

And maybe something protective (I use Phillip Kingsley Swimcap) to give a UVA/UVB and chlorine barrier.

And apparently (no 1st hand knowledge) tomato ketchup/ juice takes out green.

I get highlights and my hairs never gone green in the pool.

Thanks 70 I'll check that product out as I wanted something as a protector for my hair.

Orianne thank you I know so many people have highlights and was thinking I have never seen anyone with green gair but I don't normally have it done until after my hols but
I didn't like the colour they had done last time once it had faded out so needed it doing before hols to feel good.

Shouldn't do but if it does-tomato sauce straight away gets rid of the green!! No lie, tomato sauce red neutralises green.

Holiday I always advise to buy a good quality (pref colour/uv protection) leave in conditioner/conditioning spray and absolutely slather your hair in it before you go swimming.

After you leave the pool give your hair a really good rinse and apply the conditioner again.

Most importantly, never soak your hair in the pool then lie in the sun drying off afterwards (not without rinsing your hair first in the showers, anyway) Smile

I saw about the tomato sauce on the other thread so will buy some for the apartment just in case Smile.

Thanks for all the info LaRegina my hairdresser had advised about a colour/uv spray but they had sold out so I have got to get one somewhere else it was the keretese one she recommended. I have never used the showers after going in the pool before so thanks for the tip.
