What do I need to know about buying a gel nail kit?

Went to Sally's to have a look this afternoon.

They had a LED lamp kit, but the colours available to buy with it were disappointing.

Or a professional 36W lamp but buy everything separate. The polishes for this were £25 each!

I saw a Sensationail French manicure set with LED lamp in Boots, but again, only 4 other colours available.

So what do I need. Is LED or UV the way to go. What range has a good choice of colours and where do I buy from? Has anyone had a set off EBay? TIA.

Anyone have one?

Can all the gel polishes be cured by UV and LED or are they either or?

Are the cheaper gel polishes rubbish or ok?

Hate to rain on your parade but I really wouldn't think about buying a gel nail kit from anywhere unless you've had some proper training first. It is scarily easy to wreck your nails if you don't know what you're doing, and the proper removal of gel is almost more important than the application.
As far as prices go, if you're still determined to go ahead, then the only advice I can give you is that you get what you pay for. Cheap stuff probably won't work so well, may not cure properly, and won't look so good.

Sorry if this wasn't what you wanted to hear!

I wanted to do my toenails for holiday.

I have spent hundreds, probably well over a thousand £s over the years having my nails done. I've been cold turkey for two years now.

Pollish chips, whatever I do. If I have my toes, fingernails and DDs toes done for holiday, I could spend the same buying a kit. That was my thinking.

Look online at that sensationail, as I was looking in my boots the other day and they had about 20 colours in stock. I was also considering it as my nails always chip and I get them done about once a fortnight, which is £40 a month!!

I have looked at Senastionail. It is just an LED light though and the more professional ones are 36w UV so I was wondering what the difference is.

I bought the Sensationail kit with 13 colours. It's really easy to do but removal is horrible. Don't even attempt to remove gels if you don't have a spare hour and patience because you can easily damage them Looks at own nails

Application is easy if your used to doing your nails but takes a bit longer and I have found it to be long lasting so far.

I also have the sensationail kit and really like it, there are lots of colours online to choose from.
