Moisturiser with fake tan, how do I use it?

I have bought some Dove summer stuff. I used the Johnson's stuff a few years ago and remember it went very streaky very quickly so I want it to work this time.

I have a self tan mitt and I will only be using it on my legs. What do I do with my ankles and knees? My feet are very tanned already so how do I blend the fake stuff into my natural tan?

All advice welcome. If there is a better brand I don't mind buying that instead.

I'm sure the Dove stuff is fine - my favourite is the Garnier Summer Body gradual tanner. I don't use a mitt - have always just used my hands. I apply it as evenly as I can as I would any moisturiser. Around the knees and ankles, where it can collect a bit, I apply a little extra plain body lotion just to blend it better. I'd nearly say don't bother putting any on your feet if they're already tanned. If you wear sandals then usually the straps help conceal any unevenness!

Usually I find it best to put it on my legs in the early morning. That way I can put on a skirt or pair of shorts and walk around letting it properly dry in. Putting it on before bed can cause patchiness.

Thanks for the moisturiser hint, I will try that. I am planning on using it in the morning :)
