I'm in a total rut for shops. What nice and lovely shops/websites can I look in?

I'm very much stuck in a H&M and Oasis rut for work clothes, I like the clothes but I'm getting fed up trailing round the same shops but can never think of where else to look. I'm in Birmingham, so got a decent selection about.

Can you tell which shops are nice? And especially websites, I love Uniqlo when I can get to one, but their website doesn't seem to be up to much.

Please help before my wardrobe basically turns into a H&M outlet Sad

ASOS and Atterley Road.

I'm also in Birmingham. I like The White Company sales and have found a few fantastic things in Cos recently. Are you wanting work clothes, and how smart do you need to be?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/07/2013 19:16

I got these today. Lovely cut and an absolute bargain. I plan to wear them with a chiffon top or a silk t-shirt and heels or ballet shoes.

EduCated · 21/07/2013 19:29

Mainly work clothes at the moment, though just fancying a general looking in more places. But I want nice work clothes, not just black trouser/shirt variations.

I've never really looked in Cos, I think in my head its the same as Coast, but i heard someone else talking about it the other day. I always forget The White Company are in Brum with them off up the side street.

ASOS scares me a little bit, I never know where to start with it Blush

Ooh they look nice Remus, would they still be crop length on a 5ft 5 person? I find lots of cropped trousers end up too long. Are they true to size?

Sorry for thread hijack OP!

If.you are prepares to browse and sift through rails try TK Maxx

EduCated · 21/07/2013 19:37

I don't have the patience for TK Maxx Sad Can just about manage the shoe dept, but gave up on looking for clothes there a while ago. Such a shame because they have great stuff sometimes, but I just can't cope with it!

Atterley Road looks like a good site, thanks Smile Not come across it before.

And hijack away, Keztrel Grin

TK Maxx website!

Itsafineline · 21/07/2013 19:40

I think the only similarity between Cos and Coast is that they both start with the letter C.
Cos is sometimes referred to in the fashion press as the poor woman's Marni. the shapes are very 'directional', as are some of the fabrics - very much like Marni.

Where to go depends on your style, tbh. If you are kind of spare and minimalist, you'll like Cos.

EduCated · 21/07/2013 19:40

Shock Why oh why have I never thought of that?! You are genius!

Weeelll, I discovered me&em on mumsnet and have bought a couple of lovely dresses and a jumper in the sale. Couldn't have afforded full price but its worth a look. Sale prices are comparable with atterley road and I also use Asos way way too much sometimes.

QueenCadbury · 21/07/2013 19:47

Have you tried wandering round the concessions in HOF or selfridges (or John Lewis in Solihull). All of these offer a good selection of brands.

Website wise I love looking at ones like net a porter, my wardrobe etc even though I can't afford their prices but often you cn get good ideas for styling and then try and source similar stuff on the high st.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/07/2013 20:04

The WC is in Selfridges.
Cos and Coast are polar opposites. A lot of the Cos stuff is completely unwearable on me, but there are often a few really good bits and I love their jewellery.

EduCated · 21/07/2013 22:16

Ooh, where is WC in Selfridges? Is that new? I've only been to their shop off New St.

Will definitely check out Cos now I know it's not Coast Grin

I always forget about HoF as well. In fact, I tend to forget about anything that's not in the bullring Blush

HappyGirlNow · 22/07/2013 13:12

And Mango..

theidsalright · 22/07/2013 14:27

Uniqlo
Cos
And Other Stories

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/07/2013 21:59

Are we mixing up White Company and White Stuff by any chance? As far as I know, the only WC branch is a concession in Selfridges on the ground floor, next to Yo Sushi.

There's a big sale in Reiss at the mo too (next to Cos). Most of it is totally wrong for my body, but they do have some nice things.

EduCated · 22/07/2013 22:37

I think we might be Blush Im on the White Stuff...

I always forget about Mango, for some reason!
