Does anyone fancy styling my husband?

He's 36, 5ft 6, 29inside leg (short arse) muscley legs (rugby) broad shoulders. He also has quite a large beer belly so a 38" waist.

He needs a summer wardrobe. He wants to be fashionable, but he's not very confident. He has several tshirts that are geeky cool (comicky) he wears hoodies all the time (drives me mad) he has two nice pairs of shorts, some nice brown shoes, some lovely leather flip flops. And a pair of mustard coloured combatty trousers that are cuffed at the ankle.
He wears a uniform for work so it's purely a relaxing wardrobe and maybe a couple of going out tops. And he has about £200 to spend.

Please help as I want him to be more confident about himself and to,feel good.

Watching as my Dh is abit lazy with fashion I.e he just goes to Next drives me bonkers

Some short sleeved shirts would be a good start, Levis & Superdry do nice quality ones with good detailing, makes a big difference compared to something from Next/Burtons.

Thank you sparky. Would they do sizes to fit him? He's a large to Xl in burtons.

Checked shirts are great. These are good for disguising big bellies and can be worn daytime or evenings. There are some decent ones in Sainsburys Wink

The mustard combat trousers sound a bit teenagy but that's me. A decent pair of jeans in dark denim would be a better idea - levi/gap.

What kind of leg would you say? Straight? Bootleg??

are you sure your husband won't mind being styled and dressed by you? isn't it a bit controlling?

MadAboutHotChoc · 21/07/2013 10:34

Different styles suit different shapes so he has to try these on - that way he gets to choose.

No Burberry he's asked me to put it on here!!!!

I want to do this for my DH but he's not up for it - he said 'why? Is there something wrong with the way I dress? Don't you like it?' And I chickened out.

I wanted to put him in something different to his retro style T shirts/polo shirts and jeans - I had my eye on some chinos in a muted colour (tan or grey) and smartish long sleeved T shirts. Also some converse type trainers instead of retro Adidas/Nikes. So not a complete departure but just slightly updated.

It must be a difficult thing for him to admit that 37 is not 25 and he's a grown up now. As women it's something we tend to put a lot more thought into dressing for our life stage/circumstances.

Straight leg, IMO, is best for jeans, dark wash or black/charcoal is good, no distressed stuff (OK for 'young uns' Grin). My DP has some nice jeans & its things like the little details, pocket position that looks more stylish (& more expensive).

I think size should be ok, Superdry womens is teeny but don't think the mens is, just keep him away from the hoodies/joggers Grin

We use TK Maxx a lot, they sometimes have Superdry & Quicksilver stuff, but you do need to be careful in there, there is some cheapo stuff and also expensive stuff marked down for a reason, be picky & there's great bargains to be had.

MadAboutHotChoc · 21/07/2013 12:09

Superdry men is teeny. TBH, I am not keen on grown men or women wearing teenage brands and would prefer to go for non labels.

TKMaxx a good idea though.

Forgot to mention Fat face, womens stuff a bit frumpy but mens stuff good, IMO. Nice quality & details.
