What shall I buy for a night out that might include clubbing?

I am going out with 3 of my old friends on 8 July. I'm not sure of the details yet, one of the others has arranged it but suspect it might include a club. Not bothered about clubbing but will go along with what is decided.

I want to buy something new and trendyish as I don't have much in the way of going out clothes but bear in mind that I am 33. I don't really want to wear jeans - seems a bit predictable but what could I get instead. I have skirts that I like wearing but they are all floaty linen types or gypsy or whatever. I have some city shorts but they are a bit heavy - sort of almost tweedy type material.

Won't get much wear out of it so don't want to spend much. But if you give me ideas I will go to New Look and buy the equivalent. Grin Was wondering about some city shorts and a top. But what colour and fabric?

Thanks.

i'd go for smart dark blue denim cropped jean/city short and a nice longish t shirt top, something fairly plain, and some cool shoes, cheap fashion jewels ans nice little bag. i'm 29 so not too muttony!

LOL at muttony. I am quite big on the accessories atm. Any ideas on colour - I am pale and highlighted blonde....

well, i'm no fashion oracle, welshboris is though. I would wear black but i've got a big chest to hide. Love the nice jadey green about atm

Bozza · 08/06/2006 08:36

Hmm no norks to hide and am not doing so much black just now. So might try jade green. I bought a red top yesterday and it just did not suit my colouring so is going back.

Anyone else? Or shall I just offer alliebongo the position as my personal dresser?

i can't take that reponsibility! Have you got a friend that would go with you??

Bozza · 08/06/2006 20:00

Grin alliebongo I think you have had some good ideas. Now just need to find some shorts that fit in a cheap shop. Find New Look ones tend to be too low cut for me.

No friends available to go I'm afraid.

low risers do not suit a mummy belly. dotty p's?, next are not that expensive atm and if denim you would wear again

southeastastra · 08/06/2006 20:18

wear something cool, floaty skirt and vest top? maybe buy a really nice clinch belt in bright colour to jazz it up that you can wear again, look at the topshop website for inspiration?

Bozza · 08/06/2006 21:44

Do you think that would be OK? I have a white linen skirt with embroidery from Next (looked online but couldn't find it although it is in the season's Summer catalogue).
