Maxi dress for the short and fat??

I have a wedding next month. I'm 5'0 and between and 16/18 size wise. Big hips, big norks and a fairly narrow waist in comparison. It's obviously not tiny but is my narrowest point.

I dislike my ,legs but can cope with them out in opaques, but this weather isn't opaque weather, so I'm thinking maxi dress.

Will I look like a walking wigwam?

Also looking for suggestions. Budget as little as possible, but can go up to £100 if I can use accessories I already have.

Don't read too much into it I was just trying to follow the waist on waist, straight skirt advice!

I post dresses on here for others all the time, I just can't do it for myself!

Although number 3 is the only one I would look twice at from your links, sorry!

I have green shoes and bag that would work with the pink. Or a deep purple plus fascinator.

Ooooooooh Remus! I like that a lot. I have everything to go with that! In numerous colours! Maybe even multicoloured!

Vipers opinion on the flowery one Remus has just posted?

Mmm not convinced by green and pink tbh. Or by fascinators. Sorry.

No don't do it.

I'm 5'2" and 10/12 and I wouldn't attempt to pull off a maxi because they only come up to the top of your boobs so your clothing seems to start really low down. FAR FAR better to wear a dress or skirt and top that covers your shoulders and goes to your knees. That will seem 'longer'. Honestly.

I think you look nice in that kind of dress but in a brighter colour.
I was going to say get your self a better bra too, I have GG boobs and a bra from Rigby and Pellar made me look about 20.

There are loads of nice dresses in the M and Co sale, I bought this one yesterday for a wedding in August and this one for a wedding in June. Both v cheap!!

I have this but in black from m&co bought for Xmas doo.

And this but wear with opaques to work

So kind of gives and idea of what I like, a bit.

Not keen on the myleen polka dots. Seems a bit Minnie Mouse in style.

That first link, the navy one, that's nice.
the second, the pattern, hmm, maybe not. ???

Not keen on the polka dots either but that style of dress would be good on you I think. Draw you UP, not down, iyswim

Right, is there a bra intervention thread going? I have remeasured. 38/52 can that be right?? I have a feeling it was different the last time!

I just bought the Oasis maxi dress from last week's Swears By e-mail and lord above it is fabulous! I was very skeptical, especially as I tried the large first and it looked horrible and highlighted all my lumpy bits, but the medium was perfect.

(I'm 5'1 and a 12-14)
