Sunhat to swim in abroad - 7 year old boy

Ds is quite fair skinned - up till now his UV swimsuits have come with a hat, but now he is older they don't. Am having no luck finding something like a navy legionnaire type hat - what do your kids swim in when it's hot?

Girls use, those head scarf hair bands and I've seen boys in pirate head scarfs.

Mostly it ceases to be much of a problem, because wet hair stops you getting sun stroke, so older DCs who actually swim not paddle are usually ok.

My DDs have used scarf headbands when they have those corncrow type holiday braids because all the partings burn.

mine tend to wear a cap when not swimming and nothing on their heads when swimming

For dd (and myself) I use a scalp sun spray for partings to stop them burning

surely any cloth hat that stays on will do? it would dry quickly, or he could have a spare for beach play?

anyway, I used lion in the sun for many years, alway got great service

Yes I forgot them.
Their UV jackets are absolutely brilliant for sitting by the pool or in the shallows toddler watching.

I have shoulders that frazzle despite being white with three coats of factor 50.

I got a hair and scalp spray from tesco (own make Soleil stuff). We also have a Banana Boat one that we got in Home Bargains.

Boots does one too

I have these for my boys, they go up to age 12.

I'd recommend north face ones - they have UV protection. To my knowledge they also have a tie around the neck to keep them on (safety one - quick release). They do not state for swimming but I have used their toddler ones for 4yrs in the pool, they don't fade, wash well and dry quick.

My son always needs a hat one due to laser treatment on his birthmark - and these hats have done the job in temps up to 38 degrees C
