New tight dress with shaping- how to drop a size (muliple choice)/

OK thanks to advice on here I have a nice dress for graduation. It's a work/formal dress from Next. White, tight and has a bit of a pepulum or whatever it's called, so basically quite fitted.

It is however from a outlet store and they only had a size larger or a size smaller than I normally take. I went for smaller (as Next is big sizing generally ) and it's tight enough that you can see my belly button dimple (goes in).

Do I...

a) Go for a size too big
b) Wear special underwear bearing in mind it already has a "control lining"
c) Hope the graduation gown covers it and be happy it was less than a 1/4of selling price.
d) Not eat for 3 days (have not eaten today today if it helps).

b) and I wouldn't say don't eat for 3 days but you could just follow a carb-free low calorie diet for 3 days, that might help a bit.

Good luck!

Can I venture an e) and suggest you get something else you feel comfortable in?
Graduation can be long and you want it to be memorable for the right reasons, not because you spent the whole day worrying about your tummy button/size too small dress!

Usually I'd say try A but probably go B.

But, in this weather and with a gown adding another layer it's got to be A. Will probably fit really nicely anyway.

Get a cheap black skirt and a very cool white blouse, Graduations are boiling. Dont add to your overdraft buying a dress that doesn't fit and you won't wear again.

A black skirt is always useful for waitressing while looking for a proper job Wink

Thank you!

Problem it more or less fits everywhere else but tummy. So bigger size (2 bigger than now) Might be weird everywhere else. Not sure because I don't wear smart fitted numbers normally.Might just go and get it anyway because I'm sadistic.

e) not an option - have found "the shoes" and have tried on every suitable formal dress in my budget in a 25 mile radius.

Comfy cool high heels have go to come before the dress hidden in a gown?

Bigger size and get it altered to fit better?

50ShadesOfMaybe · 17/07/2013 17:05

Smaller size and get it altered? Is there any allowance in the seams so it could be let out a little round the waist? (I have done this with a pair of trousers that were too tight on the thigh but just right everywhere else.)
