What would you wear under these shoes?

I usually wear either boots or birkenstock style sandals, so I've forgotten what to wear under proper shoes. I've bought some of these in black to wear for work (yes, I know they're ugly but I don't care!). What would you wear under them? I've tried wearing those things that are like a knee length version of tights but my legs got too hot. Any other ideas, or do I just have to put up with hot legs?

you can buy 'shoe liners' in places like primark. Can't promise they won't show a little at the sides but they help stop your feet getting so sweaty

Ankle socks with lace trim? Might look better than plain socks.

I would just go with bare feet.

Thanks, I think I'll try them with bare feet and get some shoe liners if they rub toil much.
