I like this one

Have never ordered from this website before but I quite like this one!

Would it look rubbish without the big petticoat underneath? Worried it may make the dress too much but also that it wouldn't look right without it!

Opinions, first night out with the girls since ds on Friday!

I haven't got a Hepburn but I have a couple of their swing dresses and they have quite a lot of volume even without the petticoat. I happily wear them without for day to day or summer, and would wear the petticoat if I was wearing it in a more obviously fifties style.

I love Lady V and have 7 of their dresses! You do not need a petticoat as the skirts are very full anyway. I only wear a petticoat if I am on a night out.

How tall are you as the Hepburns come up longer than the swing dresses? I am 5'6 and the Hepburn comes to nearly mid calf on me?

If you like this style then also try Collectif-they also do vintage style dresses and they sell petticoats too.

Also, can I ask if I'm too old for this 'vintage' look at 33?

Hell no I'm 31 and wear a vintage 50's style everyday. Another online shop you may like is lindybop dresses and I you like their page on FB you get a 10% off code to use as many times as you like :)

I have two hepburns. I don't wear a big petticoat and they look fine.
I am am older than the op and not as tall as ashoe (but I like longer clothes)

Ashoething · 14/07/2013 19:57

I hope I am not too old to wear 50's style as like Portly I try and emulate this look for every day and I am 37!

Lady V quality cannot be beat for that price imo-the dresses are fully lined and wash easily.

MrsPercyPig · 14/07/2013 20:03

shoe do you do vintage hairstyles also?

Glad to hear I'm not too old!

Vintage weekender coming up at end of the month and hunting for new frocks for daytime.

Ashoething · 14/07/2013 20:29

I can do a vintage set with bendy or heated rollers. Can also do victory rolls-badly! For every day I usually do a quiff or roll with a flower stuck in.
