Jo Malone - if I like Grapefruit and Blackberry & Bay I will also like...?

In London tomorrow, passing Jo Malone shop and want to go in and find myself a new perfume.

I love the above two; on the whole tend to like quite fresh, green scents IYSWIM but don't mind a bit of a floral and prepared to experiment.

The only scents I really hate are very sweet, heavy ones - Alien, Poison, that sort of thing.

Help me narrow down my sniffing? TIA...

Guerlain Herba Fresca or Grapefruit? Both lovely and don't age.

needasilverlining · 14/07/2013 17:34

I will keep those in mind, but TBH I really do want a JM one - thanks though.

Have you tried the Vetiver already?

needasilverlining · 14/07/2013 17:40

Ooo, I haven't but just read the description and I LOVE bergamot so that's a definite maybe, thank you.

Lol, I was at a friends house at the weekend, and she had little bottles of the Vetiver, and the Blackberry and Bay in her loo, so a snuck a sample of each - and loved them both!

I know you're JM focussed, but if you ever get a chance to try Annick Goutal's Ninfeo Mio, it's in the same zone.

I am very fond of the pear and freesia - and I think my tastes run along the same lines as yours.

Depending on which shop you are visiting, there will be one of the three "tea" fragrances - you should give those a go, perhaps?

There is a new Saffron one, too, which you should probably try just because it's new.

The blackberry is lovely, though. Perhaps just another of those? Grin

amotherincognito · 14/07/2013 18:20

Those two are my favourites too but what about lime, basil and mandarin?

Roshbegosh · 14/07/2013 18:22

Weren't the tea ones discontinued? I loved the earl grey one. I like most of the JL scents and my current favourite is black vetiver cafes. Lavendar and amber is beautiful and DH uses it too. I haven't tried the saffron yet but will do now.

JennySense · 14/07/2013 18:28

~I tried the earl grey and cucumber last week and loved it. I also like the Lime one?

thecatfromjapan · 14/07/2013 18:33

One of the tea ones is back in mainstream production. Two others are available as "Specials" at two (different) outlets. I forget which. Sorry!!

I think John Lewis has one and Selfridges has the other - but I could be completely wrong about the names of the stores!!!!

SauvignonBlanche · 14/07/2013 18:33

Orange blossom?

thecatfromjapan · 14/07/2013 18:37

By the way, all of you on this thread: Can I tell you about "Jour d'Hermes"? It's lovely. I know Jo Malone seems to have "haters" now but I am a big fan Smile. I love the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria's too. And this new Hermes scent is just lovely. It strikes me that we might all be similar in tastes, so I thought I'd just pass that recommendation on ...

We're saving the world from Alien, Poison, etc, one spray at a time. Grin

thecatfromjapan · 14/07/2013 18:39

Rogue apostrophe hanging about Aqua Allegora there .. Sorry, all those of you with tender grammatical sensibilities. Smile

Carolra · 14/07/2013 18:53

Jo Malone 153 is good. I love grapefruit as well.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 14/07/2013 18:57

Blackberry and bay is my autumn:winter fave. For summer I have been wearing the nectarine blossom and honey one. But I can't smell it on myself now :-(

MrsRogerSterling · 14/07/2013 19:01

Pear and freesia or french lime blossom.

TSSDNCOP · 14/07/2013 20:31

Nectarine and honey blossom

Bluebell

DH is raving about the Pomegrante Noir he bought me for Christmas.

TSSDNCOP · 14/07/2013 20:33

I was late through check in this morning, so I didn't have time to buy up more at duty free. Did you all know JM is stocked at Gatwick South?

Roshbegosh · 14/07/2013 20:46

Yes and much cheaper than the shops.

needasilverlining · 16/07/2013 21:57

To update (should anyone be interested) - I really liked most of your suggestions (pomegranate noir maybe a bit flowery) but the Dark Amber and Ginger Lily was gorgeous, esp when combined with Blackberry and Bay.

Black Vetiver Cafe now on the Christmas list, too...

Thanks!
