£40 M & S voucher to spend - suggestions?

I am looking for suggestions how to spend this voucher. I was going to buy heels for work but when I ordered some to store and tried them on I decided I don't really 'do' heels, I buy them then kick them under my desk and put my flats on!. I am ok for flats etc. could do with a work suit but don't know if they have anything decent. Maybe I should wait until their new clothes collection comes in? I could do with more clothes for work generally and am a pear shape so tend to go for fit and flare style dresses.
Also thought of buying nail varnish but also have boots voucher to spend.
Any suggestions please?

Food.

Or underwear.

Andcake · 13/07/2013 12:39

Agree food, underwear as most of the clothes are v frumpy when on. Or basic t-shirts, vest tops or jumpers in winter.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 13/07/2013 14:19

I buy jeans and underwear there, but not much else. They have really expanded their cosmetics lines in larger stores too, might be worth a look.

Other than that I buy most of the DCs school uniform there so I would use it on that and give myself £40 to get something elsewhere.

Pascha · 13/07/2013 14:23

I spent my M&S christmas gift card on cookware.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/07/2013 14:24

REN stuff in the beauty department - or a Lynn Harris perfume. And knickers.

Arcadia · 13/07/2013 14:42

Thanks some good suggestions. I don't really need underwear at the mo. will look at the REN and cosmetics and perfumes and if nothing there could spend the £40 on food for the family and spend on myself elsewhere, e.g. Zara. DD not at school yet so doesn't need uniform!

Just looked at the perfume - Lynn Harris - I was after a perfume, they look nice. Any particular one you recommend? Hopefully my local store will have testers.

agree, the skincare and makeup has got loads better recently, especially in the bigger stores where there's more choice
I'd also get a least a tenner's worth of percy pigs.

ManAliveThisThingsFantastic · 13/07/2013 14:53

£40's worth of Mini Fabulous Fudge Cupcakes...amazing!!

Theres a Lynn Haris candle on the sale sight. I would say get nightware. I love their pj bottoms

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 13/07/2013 15:09

I went and worked my way through the perfume testers recently, the store was quiet and the assistant was very helpful. I didn't actually buy though. Actually, I know what I'd buy, a couple of bottles of Ultrasun, my favourite suncream, it costs about £20 a bottle, they've just started selling it.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 13/07/2013 15:10

That's not much of a treat though, but an essential for me as most sun creams bring me out in a rash.

LaTrucha · 13/07/2013 16:21

I got these for work and I really like them. Maybe not a treat though.

Ooh, if you're still looking, Arcadia, the Lyn Harris cologne is lovely, fresh and summery and smells like Acqua di Parma, which is much dearer. I also like Le Sauvage - it's technically for men, but if you like your scent quite rich and unusual, it's a good one.

Nuxe huile prodigeuse is great, too. Smells divine and is wonderfully soft on the skin. I love the Roger et Gallet stuff too. The Jean Marie Farina cologne and soap smell wonderful - spicy and fresh - as does Eau de Gingembre, the first ever perfume I bought for myself when I was 16 and in Paris, sigh...

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/07/2013 18:45

Yes, Le Sauvage is v nice.

Arcadia · 13/07/2013 20:48

Hmm thanks for all the ideas am going to poke around the beauty and perfume stuff next week in my lunch breaks (I work five mins away from a city centre branch). I was quite impressed when I had a quick look, I thought it would be all lavender hand lotions and bath salts but they now seem to have some really good ranges in!

Can I just recommend this dress as you like fit and flare? Pic doesn't do it justice - v flattering, esp on a pear.
